What happened to trust?
Have you ever been betrayed by someone whom you trusted with all of your heart? I'm sure you must have felt like the world had turned it's back on you or maybe you felt worse. Really there is not quantifying how much pain one feels when the people they've come to believe and hold true turns out to be a false tale told at a time that seems to have never existed!
I just read an article written by @Kristofferquincy on how he gave his laptop to a trusted person who was a friend to his sister and thus to the family. Because of this existing relationship, he paid upfront and was promised his laptop back in a few days but sadly after 3 weeks, he still hadn't gotten it back nor had he gotten even a reply from the guy as well. Instead he couldn't reach him through phone calls as he had probably had kris's number blocked.
The above story is just one in the billions of situations that happen daily where by people break the trust that others had in them. I'm sure if I were to give examples, I won't run out of what to say because stories of broken trust are everywhere.
Personally, I've been a victim of having the trust I placed on someone broken. I can't say what the story is because it is somewhat personal but I know that the little act of breaking my trust left me sad and unhappy for days. Being the emotional person I am, I shed painful tears and was mostly withdrawn for a long while till I started to let it go.
Letting go and getting back to the stage where it seems like nothing ever happened becomes impossible because it's a scar that runs pretty deep that only the long hands of time have the best chances of treating.
It's no surprise that people who have gone through these bitter experiences find it difficult to trust people. You can't blame them can you, they are simply trying to safe guard their heart from further pain as there's the tendency for someone to break their trust again since it had happened before.
Mistrust everywhere..
You can't really blame anyone for lacking trust in others because there are a lot of untrustworthy people hence mistrust everywhere.
Men and women cheat on their wives that they have sworn on the altar to love and to hold till death do them part. They cheat and lie to each other's faces and continue to live life like nothing happened. Until one day the secret is out and it comes to light that the love they've been professing has been false all along and that they've been living one big lie. Sad really!
Friends sell out friends who trusted them with personal occurrences about their life. These friends do not think twice before selling out themselves because at that very moment, they have something to gain form it all, at the expense of someone else.
Co workers in an institution rat out each other to one another, all for what really? Early promotion, favour from the boss, affection, money? are these things really worth it?
Basically every sphere of life that you can think to mention has some level of mistrust in it. Is it the church, I think the level of mistrust there is rising like the Tower of Babel that was built in the Bible.
Wolves in sheep's clothing
It's funny how people gain your trust for the sole purpose of breaking it in the end. I read an article by @kushyzee
on moral decadency, where he was strictly focused on cyber fraud that is popularly know as Yahoo in my beautiful country Nigeria. In this article, he mentioned that the young boy who agreed that cyber fraud was not a bad thing claimed that these people were not forcefully robbed of their money.
Yes they many not be robbed of their money, but they don't just give anybody do they. They are deceived into giving up their trust! These fraudsters pretend to be good people, who either have a business or are in love or whatsoever story line they tow.
"Show me a person who lacks trust and I'll show you a person who has been deceived"
Point is they pretend to be who they are not to gain the trust of their victim. For what really? Their own personal gain and when this agenda of theirs is achieved, they leave their victim shattered and broken and they don't care. To all those who support Yahoo, I don't know what to say to you really!
It's very inhumane to hurt people deliberately. People who do this are no different form serial killers and kidnappers and left to me, they should be prosecuted by the law but I guess our government feels otherwise.
Author's Epilogue
It's sad how we can't even really trust anyone anymore. Your neighbor brings food to your doorstep and you're scared of eating because stories have gone forth on how people harmed their neighbor like that. You received a gift on your wedding day and you're scared to open it, you're walking and the sun is actively blazing and a car stops by to help you to your destination but you can't accept it.
It's sad because the society is largely being affected by these little acts of people being untrustworthy. I really hope that there is still a chance at redemption cos as it seems, there might not be!
Thanks for reading!

When trust is broken, it will no longer be fix. Or maybe it can be fix, but not as strong as before anymore. People tend to forget about the importance of trust.
