Fake things, fake life!
These days, it seems like there are two different worlds around me. There is the world that I can physically feel and see and there is the other called social media which is sometimes something different entirely from the physical world.
You see a black girl becoming fair all of a sudden and begin to wonder if she is someone else because of the pics she posted.
I'm saying this because alot of folks are actually living two lives and it keeps baffling me how they are able to manage it.
I can understand that we like to put the beautiful moments that we have out there and share it with the world and I'm not at all disturbed about that. What I find disturbing is the effort to mimic beautiful moments that have not happened yet simply because we want to please the crowd.
Do not be surprised when I say that social media is full of fake things. I say this because things are never the way they seem there. A couple could look extremely happy in their video and pictures that they uploaded, but in reality they might have gone the whole day without uttering a word to each other. To the viewers at home, we like their outfit and begin to wish that we were like them, if only we knew.
I really don't know about you but I am never envious or totally in awe of anything I see on social media because those clips and photos are mostly the edited versions of the real deal.
I keep wondering who made social media about the show offs and fashion and trends that we see every where today. People go as far as borrowing clothings and other Accessories just to look good by other people's standard.
Now, it's a trend that engagements must be recorded and posted, outings whereby people had big pieces of chicken must be photographed and posted and lots more.
I am not saying all of this is bad, but I'm saying that if your intent behind your posting of these pics and videos are to make sure that people know that you're the real deal and living the life, that you can afford to have a good time, then you're just putting unnecessary pressure on yourself.
I once had someone ask me if I do not go out at all and in conclusion she said I was living a "boring life".
Her basis for saying this was because there are usually no videos of me having fun and going out hence the conclusion that I don't. I just smiled as she was talking and didn't even say a word.
Thinking about it today, I am forced to conclude that 90% of the times that people make posts and say they are having fun, they really aren't but have to, for the record.
If you think that I'm saying that people shouldn't flaunt their good time, you're wrong. I do it too every now and then that i can afford to but that doesn't mean that people can tell my whole family history of how I've lived my life from my social media handles. The fact that people do not understand the word moderation is where the problem lies and also their intent.
Social media should not be a measure of one's happiness or prosperity in life cos if you do measure your success by what you see there, then there will always be trouble because most of the time, only happy faces and good clothings and cars and expensive things are there.
Remember, it is all in the intent. If you want to, do it because you want to and not to show others that you did. Above all learn to be moderate.
But then again what do I know, I could be wrong!

You're right and somehow I felt guilty for my profile. I took a picture of me from my cellphone and I don't know how it become like it that my complexion is fair while in real life Im morena or have a brown skin hehehe.
Posting everything in social media will depend on its purpose. I post in social media some of precious moments hoping to find it again in the next few years.
