Hey guys! Happy Sunday to you all. I hope your day went well just the way you wanted? Well, mine was quite uneventful, still recuperating from the illness that seem to have evaded my body. Thankfully I'm much better that I was yesterday.

I was watching a series today titled "the mentalist" and one of the actors mentioned that sometimes we are not sorry for most of the things that we apologize for. According to him, most people say what they think that the other person wants to hear.

I've been a victim of meaningless apologies and I speak from experience when I say that they hurt even more than the offense being apologized for itself. Why would someone go through the stress to just say "I'm sorry" when they know that they don't mean one ounce of what they just said. Sad really!

Its almost like You're inflicting a new wound by lying about being sorry when you're not. I have to say that people who are comfortable doing this have no regard for the feelings of the other party in question, because it they do they wouldn't want to cause them more pain.

There's also the instance where people do the same thing over and over again and even many times more because they feel apologizing makes it okay. How can someone even think this? Its like commiting a crime and wanting to go unpunished simply because one apologized. It doesn't even add up at all.

Apologies are meant to have meaning, they make a statement of realization of one's offence and should display the feeling of remorse that usually comes with the acceptance of one's wrong.

Anything beyond this I'm afraid is an apology without meaning, either meant to just pacify or to exploit the other party.

I know you may hold a differing opinion, but its better to not apologize than to just go ahead and do it, probably because other people have said its the right thing to do or because you are just scared.

The most annoying of them all is saying I'm sorry because you simply want to put an end to the argument and not because you mean it. Apologies that are made like this simply means that such offence would be repeated another time cos to the offender, he or she has done nothing wrong.

I always say that we should try to put people in our shoes before we do the things we want to do. I'm sure nobody likes to be offered a false apology, so why do same to others. Instead of faking up a sorry, why not just come clean and say you don't see why you should be apologizing. Saying this leads to a further explanation which might further reveal your wrong or not. Still its better than being false about your intentions.

Author's Epilogue

Its better to mean an apology than to not! I know it might seem like the quickest route out of a mess because saying I'm sorry even when you're not might let you off the hook quicker than any other thing.

Whatever the case may be, I think being truly sorry no matter how long it may take stands the test of time.

So if you are quick to say the words I'm sorry even when you're not, this article is for.

Thanks for reading today, until next time please stay true to the words "I'm sorry".
