Waiting And Longing Traffic has so much dealt with me in these past few weeks, so much that I now have patience in abundance to spare. If you're a very impatient person, you should not get stuck in traffic for hours especially Lagos traffic cos you might end up killing the passengers close to you out of anger or just get off the bus and start trekking to an unknown destination. The trekking thing was exactly was happened to me today as I couldn't take it anymore cos almost everyone on the bus had all gone down to trek so I decided to do same and follow cos they seemed like the winning team. All this has taught me that waiting messes with a person's mind. Now I see why Nigerian graduates who look for jobs to no avail are usually frustrated cos they've waited and waited and nothing happened. I'm using Nigeria cos it's my country and I'm used to how things how here and not because we have it worse. It's usually easy when one has other options while waiting. Imagine a very hungry child waiting for his mother to finish cooking so he can eat. The child is hungry yes but he finds waiting easy cos he knows something is cooking hence he doesn't have to be so bothered. Now, imagine another child who is hungry but mummy comes home with nothing to cook and says "let's wait for daddy". How do you think such a child would feel. He will be devastated and sad and any other adjective that expresses heartbreak will be a perfect match for him. As much as patience is a virtue that we should all have, I think there is a limit to the extent which one can exercise patience. A pregnant wife who waits up for her husband every night will definitely get tired and give up someday. It's inevitable! As bizarre as this may sound, do you know that there are couples who make their spouse wait for them during a fight just to prove a point. Okay let me break it down this way.. Funke had a fight with Dele. Yes dele was wrong and he has admitted his fault and is apologizing but Funke wants to make him understand the gravity of the offence by not accepting the apology. Mind you, I have nothing against this, but it's been 2 weeks now and Funke is still not willing to let it go. Now Dele has given up and focused his energy elsewhere who is to blame? Many relationships have ended like this with the person who was once being begged becoming the beggar. What does she have to say was the reason why her relationship ended? Her own personal games or her partner's? Making people wait for the sake of teaching them a lesson is not funny at all and should not be encouraged. I think life already comes up with millions of ways to make us wait and nobody should add to that in any way. In conclusion, life is too short to be gambled with so let's act smart, remember we will reap if we faint not! ***Thanks for reading!***
