The Struggle of a Young Breadwinner. Chapter 1: Why me?

The daily life of some of us is not at all a fairytale. One is carrying heavy luggage trying to survive each day. My life growing as a child was awesome. I have been the only child for 12 years. My mom is a simple housewife and my father was a hardworking nurse. Growing up, I never had had anyone to share my attention with. They have focused on welfare and care, well, this may be a perk of being the only child at that time. Neither we were rich nor totally poor. I can say we are an average type of family. Financially, we can provide our basic needs and sometimes we are able to get what we want.  After many years of trying, my parents had my little brother. He was born on Nov. 2, 2008. Yes! you read it right, he first cried out in this world during All Souls Day. But as we celebrated and welcomed the Jr. of the family, we never thought that one life will be taken from us. As we accepted our new baby boy, that’s when my father bids us his last goodbye.  On Dec. 14, 2009, the saddest call had been received by my mother, just after a month of celebrating the 1st birthday of my little brother. My father, my beloved papa, the breadwinner of the family, passed away due to cardiac arrest while he was on duty. We never had a chance to talk or see him. He had been away from us for a month because he was working as a private nurse of a very famous businessman in our region. But what came home was only a coffin where he was lying. At first, I thought that this would only happen in a movie, but I was mistaken, it happened to me at a very young age. *Why?...* I ask the world, *why? ...* I can even remember up to these days the confusion I felt during that moment. *Am I not allowed to grow up with a complete family? We were just looking forward to how we will celebrate Christmas eve but how did we end up sending him to his final destination?* The source of the power of the family loses his flame and left a jobless wife who was not able to finish a degree, a thirteen years old girl (who is me at that time), and a 1 yr old child who can no longer have a chance to hug his father.  And from that moment everything has changed...  (To be continued...)
