Why so many people are into politics these days?

In all our social media feeds, we see so many posts concerning politics nowadays. We opened our Facebook accounts and our timeline would be filled with posts about their candidates, political memes, and news about politicians. And if you go to your Twitter account, there will always be a trending topic about politics. People will quote news about political issues and make threads about them.

So many people talk about politics at present. You may have even encountered people in the comments arguing about such issues. There may be Twitter rants from disagreeing parties. But, there are rare healthy discourses, too.

Regardless, this growing concern for politics is not a bad thing. I actually think it is a good thing. There may be disagreements, but the fact that people are now more concerned is something to look forward to.

However, some people actually think negatively about others who actively participate in political issues. Some people say that those people who are active in politics should not let themselves be consumed by it. They think being participative is pathetic and unnecessary for

But, I think that’s not true. People who dismiss others who join in political issues are just apathetic and ignorant. Those who are active are not pathetic but sympathetic people who let themselves become aware and do something because of what they know. They are active because they care.

Therefore, we should not think badly of people who talk too much about politics. People talk about it because all of us need to. Why?

Everything is political.

The food you eat, the house you live in, the road you walk on, and the company you work for are all affected by politics. Politicians or people in the government are the ones who establish and implement laws, regulations, and policies that control systems of things. The food we buy is imposed with a tax levied by the government. Our houses are taxed too. Roads are built because the government planned them. We should always care about politics because it concerns everything around us. We should see to it that the people in political positions are not making policies and laws that will endanger us.

We need change.

It is we who elected the government officials in their seats. That is why we are suffering the consequences of our choices. We ignorantly vote for people who only care about their own interests and not the welfare of their constituents. They only wanted the position for fame and money. They make policies and regulations that only benefit them, and worse, they make laws that disadvantage the poor.

It is us who elected them. That is why it is also us who have control over them. We must never be people who do not let the people in that position be accountable. We should be strict in our standards. Our taxes pay for them. That’s why every move they make is something we should care about. If they did something that did not benefit the people, it is only right to call them out. If they did not do anything to help the people, it is our right to question them. It is our right to speak up.

Therefore, the people who let their voices be heard are people who want change not only for themselves but for everyone. Those people that are bashed for talking too much about politics and contradicting the government are people who want the best for their fellow citizens, especially the poor.

• We should not waste time.

There are people who criticize politicians who run for the position. Many of those people have valid criticisms based on facts and evidence, but they are quickly dismissed because they should not meddle with other people’s choices. Some people do not want their candidates to be criticized, even if the criticism is valid, because they want people to respect their opinions.

But opinions that are based on misinformation and hate should not be respected. Some politicians running for the position have controversies and even convictions that should be considered. People call them out because we should not let someone who has a shady background govern the country. We should not let people who don’t have a solid platform be elected. We should not risk giving a chance to people who do not have the qualifications and right values.

That is why many people talk so much about politicians running. We do not want to waste years of potential change on people who would not be capable of making that good change. We would only be wasting our resources on them. We would only let them make laws that would cause problems in the long run.

Yes, many people are into politics nowadays for these deep reasons. We have been victimized by the past governments' anti-poor policies. We should not let our ignorance and apolitical stance become a hindrance to progress. Because it costs lives, we should not let ourselves be victims of misinformation.

Be aware and speak up.

Maybe because people already learned from how the government worked before. I mean, they has their own realizations. They chose to voice out their beliefs already.

But for some reason, it seems that talking about politics this time is like scary. Either they'll agree with you or you'll be cancelled.

People who are active when it comes to political issues and activities are considered aware in the genuine condition of the country. People are engaging in politics because they want change not only in the government but to the society. I remembered tuloy yung topic namin sa Politics and Governance which is everything we do is political.

Engaging to polítical activities and propaganda today is a trend. However, too much engagement that makes it bad and the invisible division that separated us. It's not worth it!

Though I am not one of those who really are do engaging their selves in politics but as one of the citizens of this country (Philippines), I will give my vote to the ones who really deserve to own the position he/she is running for. We need a leader that will really take care the common good of the people. The one that will protect, support or provide the needs of his/her people. Hmm..Likewise, I saw some posts mostly on FB but I just chose to not get involve.

We should wake up and knows who will be the deserving to vote. I saw a lot of people in social medias talking about politics even the people you may encounter sometimes. Yes julez, it's normal because the election is coming already. They have a different reasons why they did it, talking about politics. It's their freedom. It's their life.

Lots of people have endless debate on social media defending their candidate then criticizing other participants. The politics now is more noisy than politics on 2016, maybe people are now awake from reality that this country been occupied by corrupt officials and need to cleanse. I have no presidential candidate cause all of then have flaws, I'm just hoping that whoever wins the most highest political position in this country shall govern it correctly.

People will just follow the narrative and start forgetting the word RESPECT just because of politics.

Social media reveal the truth ( published article) behind our political system. And somewhat we badly need a change : who can lead us and possibly give a new hope to our country. We badly need a leader whose competent enough ( aside from being makabayan). We're almost in the stage of: the truth will set us free and in times truth will always prevail. I hope this cominng election, those who can vote will be a wiser one to choose our incoming President of the Republic of the Philippines.

Politics is a double-edged sword. If you're happy with what you have, the opposition is upset, if, you say, it is a hard life, the opposition quarrels with you that you voted for the current leadership. So how is it better to proceed?
