What Happened Today In Music, May 31st 1948 was born John Bonham (John Henry Bonham), English musician and songwriter, best known as the drummer for the English rock band Led Zeppelin. While primarily known for his hard rock style during his lifetime, Bonham's reputation as a drummer has grown beyond hard rock following his death; he is now seen as one of the greatest drummers of all time. He played with Led Zeppelin until his death at the age of 32, at September 25th, 1980, following a day of heavy drinking.
