Cryptocurrency, Virtual Reality and NFTs – what do all these things have in common? Web3 is the answer. What is Web3 and how will this breakthrough technology change your life? We are all familiar with the internet, it is a foundation in many people’s lives. Now consider how much of an impact the mainstream introduction of the internet had on the world, this is why it's hard to express how defining Web3 will be for your future. Before we get into what Web3 is, let's break down the history of the world wide web. As you can probably guess, first came Web1 which was the beginning of a time of decentralisation – decentralised meaning that when you access a page or app your data is safe and not at the mercy of big companies. In short, Web1 was all about individual web pages and basic functioning apps without the fear of privacy concerns – sounds nice! Most importantly we have Web3, the return to decentralisation. The key to success with Web3 will be it being built on blockchain technology, which without complicating it too much prevents companies from having control over users, and their data. Now you may ask who will run and maintain these Web3 services? Community moderation is the answer. Users like me and you (those who are qualified of course!) will be able to maintain and develop these services in return for stake ownership.
