Gorillas are herbivorous anthropoid apes that live predominantly on the ground in the rainforests of equatorial Africa. The genus Gorilla is divided into two species: eastern gorillas and western gorillas, and four or five subspecies. Gorillas' DNA is very similar to humans, 95-99% depending on what is included, and they are the closest living relatives to humans after chimpanzees and bonobos.
