Ilha da Queimada Grande, or "Snake Island", is located off the Brazilian coast and is home to a large number of Bothrops vipers, some of the most venomous in the world. Once upon a time, there was a lighthouse on this island where a single keeper lived, but then the command of the Brazilian fleet forbade the civilian population to appear on the island.
