Paraceratherium At the moment, the largest land mammal on the planet is the elephant, but not even it compares to the giant hornless prehistoric rhinoceros, Paraceratherium. With a height of over 7 m and an estimated weight between 14 and 20 tons, Paraceratherium fed on the leaves of trees in the Central Asian area. Unfortunately, the rich Asian forests were replaced by grasslands, so the species disappeared without its main food source.
