Almost Human ...Man is Care *The art of poetry consists in taking entities* *out of their hiddenness to be seen in their uncoveredness.* ―With apologies to Heidegger, Being and Time
A possum killed The small rabbit That's been living in my back garden. I found body parts Stomach and guts, and a palette with teeth Disturbingly human. They're more like us Than we think. I'm reminded of a chipmunk Trapped in a neighbour's pool; Several sparrows at the edge Anxiously hopping from side to side Until a net gathers him up-- Rescued by my wife. Human animal First Class: There's no award for that. But there should be. Now today, on the news Birds survived the hurricane... How did they escape? Well, much like us They sheltered in place.
