The above is the general form of people's questions I've heard. I dedicate this article to those who want to know the ins and outs of majoring in Psychology. Especially for those of you who have just finished school and want to continue studying at university but are still confused about choosing a major. What is a Psychology major?

Psychology was formerly defined as the science of the soul. However, because the soul is very abstract, psychology is now known as the science that studies human behavior. The behavior of every human being is a reflection of the existence of the soul itself, and behavior is something that can be observed directly.

Psychology used to be part of philosophy then became part of medical science, and then with the establishment of the first psychology laboratory in Leipzig Germany and the publication of the first psychology book at that time became the beginning of the establishment of psychology as an independent branch of science.

So, psychology is not a shamanic science that can diagnose someone without observing behavior and others. Psychology also has a laboratory for various kinds of psychological tests, and procedures for research procedures like other sciences.

If you look at the history of its establishment, it is certain that when you study psychology, you will learn about philosophy and a little science that is similar to medicine. For example, as a psychology student, I also studied nerves in my biopsychology course.

Many psychology books are thick because humans are very complex, and the discussion of each book is in-depth. Many English literature books are recommended by lecturers.

The price of psychology books is mostly above $10, so for students who live in boarding houses and want to save money, there are two options to outsmart them. First, you can buy pirated books which of course are cheaper, or the second option, you can borrow them at the campus library and save money so you can buy the book in installments (the original). If I choose the second option, because in terms of quality, of course, it is superior to the original book.

For our assignments, we mostly use references from journals and textbooks, our lecturers even recommend looking for sources from international journals. For the learning situation, in my class, I happen to use a lot of presentations from the results of group discussions. In almost every course we make papers and presentation slides.

Is there a math lesson?

Exist. In the second semester, I took a statistics course. However, our way of calculating is not manually, but using an application. Because statistics itself will be very useful when you do research, so it must be studied really so that research during the final project can run smoothly.

Are psychologists and psychiatrists the same?

Not same, it's different. Psychiatrists themselves are medical, so those of you who want to become psychiatrists must first pass medicine. As for Psychologists, you must complete a Bachelor's degree and a master's degree in psychology, followed by a test to get a license, then you can open a practice to become a psychologist.

The most striking difference is that psychiatrists are medical majors, so they can give you medicine. As for a psychologist, in dealing with patients, we can do treatment according to the case.

How are the job prospects?

As long as there are humans, psychologists are still needed. I intend to write about various psychology job prospects and educational levels to achieve them. But not here, because it would be too long.

If you finish your Bachelor's degree, will you become a psychologist?

The answer is not. I have to continue with a master's degree majoring in clinical psychology if I want to open a practice. If you only have a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in another major, you can become a psychology scientist. The point is that if you want to open a practice, you must have a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in clinical psychology.
