Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds || Familiar Summon from 10 Tickets & Bulk Hatching Results
The familiar system is undoubtedly an essential part of the Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds gameplay. For those who have no idea what a familiar is, its basically the Pokémon/ pet system of the game. While farming in the field or even battling in the duel arena (or lava valley) a character can be accompanied by at most three familiars. It directly affects the character power, so the stronger and rarer the familiar a player has the easier for them to finish their quests successfully.
Well, some might say that it's better to focus more on upgrading equipment and that's quite understandable because in the higher levels one really needs to set their priorities due to the huge volume of resources needed for upgrades, especially in terms of gold and territe. But with the update which involves the familiar arena and familiar adventure, upgrading them just became even more vital. I wouldn't dwell more on this two as I think they need a separate discussion due to the sheer volume of information we can talk about these topics.
The most interesting part for newbies is how and where to get the strongest familiar in the game. There are three popular choices to get familiars and number one is from the Gatcha summon. But be reminded that this method can be quite costly if you're targeting 4-star familiars. Summon tickets can be slowly accumulated by completing tasks mostly related to familiars. A player can also get some as achievement rewards say for upgrading a 4-star familiar to a 5-star one. Another option would be to burn cash as each summon can also be achieved with 100 diamonds each. Yes, this is one of the more popular bread and butter P2W options. With drop rates as low 0.05% for a special rare light/dark familiar just imagine how much money was burned by those guys who have special rare in 3rd awakening and above.
Luckily, because I finished the weekly missions I was rewarded by 2 familiar and 2 equipment summon tickets. I already have 8 so that additional two tickets filled in my 10-summon quota. Unlike Mir 4 which a player can get 1 extra summon for every 10 summons Ni no Kuni is quite the cheapskate as there's no free summon. I just saved my tickets because it's a hassle to make a summon individually. Also, the disappointment seemed to be more impactful in these individual summons. Trust me, I 've been there.

The result of my summon today was satisfactory as I obtained a 4-star Oroboros out of ten summon tickets. It's one of the most common 4-star earth familiars together with Disbeleaf, both have a drop rate of 0.35%. Because this is already my third time summoning this green snakey I managed to awakened it to tier 2. What I like about awakening 4-star familiars is that they have higher awakening success rate compared to their 1, 2 and 3- star counterparts. If I'm not mistaken awakening more common familiars at tier 2 has 50% success rate compared to 4-star ones that have 100% success rate in the same tier.
Of course, there are pros and cons of choosing what familiars to put into your decks. Although acquiring 4-star summons in the early game seems to be an achievement or maybe a status symbol one can brag to their friends I've seen super strong teams consisted of 3-star familiars albeit at maxed tiers and awakenings. As they say master the basics. Players can also upgrade each familiar to the next tier after maximizing their levels. Example, a level 30 3-star can be evolved into a level 1 4-star. There are many ways to strengthen a familiar but the biggest boost in CP comes from awakening. 1 and 2 stars are easiest to max out be it awakening or enhancing but aside for filling up your codex their practically useless in combat. 3-stars on the other hand poses a challenge to max out but it's doable even for F2P in their first 3 months of the game. If you're free to play and having a hard time getting lucky with your free draws why not try building your decks with upgraded three stars instead of waiting for those elusive 4-star rares.

The second popular option of getting familiars is by hatching them. Familiar eggs ae rewarded daily through different activities like completing the daily task in the missions, defending the familiar's cradle from the boars and also by receiving daily gifts from familiars residing in the farm. There are three egg slots available and they hatch in 2 hours. A player can shorten the hatching time by using the item 'sands of time'. On the other hand the item 'dream shard' increases the chances of the attribute chosen or wished by the player. I got 30 familiar eggs but only manage to bulk hatch 16 because I'm out of time shards. I think I used it to brew the Alchemy pot in Evermore. Anyways, below are the result of todays bulk hatching. I only got 2 3-star familiars but that's understand as the success rate in hatching is far lower than that in summoning. It's a free to play element so there's an obvious increase in difficulty to get the rare familiars. Take Oroboros for example, in summoning it has a drop rate of 0.35% but in hatching it only has a measly 0.053%. That is seven times harder to get.

The last and I think the least popular of the three would be familiar taming. This might be the cheapest way to get a familiar but it's also very tedious. Although taming items are not that rare you need to find this little blue butterflies called 'brighterfly'. What's with the naming sense? They are fairly common in any map but there's some sort of respawn time so you need to be patient or just use some gold to teleport to other maps to find others. Based on my experience most familiars you'll encounter would either be 1 or 2 stars. It's the cheapest way but I'd not recommend this one if you're eager to get say a 4-star familiar.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds || Monday Kingdom Defense (Tiers I and II Completed) with Clanmates

Kingdom is what you call a Guild or a Clan in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds. Two weeks ago I left my old one due to things being too passive. Like many people playing the game I'm just playing it casually but it doesn't mean that I have to be wasteful and unproductive. Joining an active Kingdom is essential to unlock some unique perks in the game. From the Citadel quests to the General Store it's a pity if a player would not maximize the full potential of the game by missing small details like these.

Kingdom Defense is a weekly event and it depends on the King (guild leader) and/or his Steward (vice guild leader) to schedule the time and date on which this event will be held. In our Kingdom's case the schedule is every Monday @ 10:00 p.m. GMT +8. Actually, because we had waited for some of our members we started it at a later time. There was this long queue because of the sudden influx of bots. Well, there's an option to pay a 7.99 USD premium to bypass the queue which made a lot of casual/F2P players really disappointed. We waited for around 30 minutes until we start the defense. Apparently, the buffs gained from the feast items were almost halfway which is quite wasteful as we still have to do the Kingdom Dungeon after.
In this defense were up against dark element monsters so using light weaponry and familiar was optimal. My light deck for weaponry was just so-so, at least in my opinion. Although I got the special rare 4-start Chronos rifle with 17k CP at the moment the other two light weapons is subpar. Light and dark weapons are generally rarer that earth, fire and water. For example, I've already maxed out my Flame Rifle at 10 awakenings but my Thunder rifle is still at it's first.
During any Kingdom event it's strongly recommended to form many separate parties. Having diversified classes in your 5-man party also optimizes the buffs as each class has different buffs that can be shared to each member. We're lucky because we have another Engineer beside me because of the heals.
The tier one defense was fast as the monsters were easier to kill and they didn't have much damage. The artilleries fired was annoying because of the knock back effect but it's still both manageable and survivable. Also, one of our members got a whooping 745k CP so it ended without a hitch. The tier 2 was different because monsters were tougher. Aside from the increase in their stats the damage from the artilleries was devastating. I was killed after being hit consecutively. I was avoiding the first one but was still hit and to my rotten luck I was knocked down to another artillery target spot which eventually killed the sh*t out of me.
We unlocked Tier 3 but it was still impossible at that moment. It was a challenge dealing with Tier 2 already so we knew that it would be a waste of time to even run Tier 3. The solo rewards for both T1 and T2 dungeon finish was massive with almost 50k gold, 90 Gilders (Kingdom currency) and 2 royal gift of darkness! I'm not really lucky though as I have not drawn the 5-star darkness varnish from it. With 0.5% chance to get that varnish I wonder if one of my mates managed to draw the devil.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds || Gold Farming Rundown for Starters

It's been almost two weeks since our last entry. My main character is now at level 58 and I managed to create 2 alt accounts during my spare time. When we say *'alts'* we do not mean another account rather it refers to the other classes playable within the account. Anyways, the topic for today is quite important because it's often overlooked especially during the first two weeks where there's a huge influx of free resources.

There are different types of currency in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds but we're going to talk about the most basic type which is Gold.
Gold is the most common and expendable currency in the game. If we check the sources we could find that there are lots of options to acquire gold, a player can even get it as an idle reward. So, what's so important about knowing so much about this currency? Although gold itself is easy to acquire through the plethora of means available. As we upgrade necessary elements to progress in the game like equipment and familiars the gold expenditure skyrockets. For example, awakening a 3-star equipment might cost a player around 5,000 gold at 100% success rate for the first awakening. But if we look for the gold required for a 10th awakening we could get values as high as 18,000 gold per try and that's with a measly 18% success rate. Conservatively, that's around 144,000 gold for a 100% success rate.
It really depends on a player's goal. The fastest albeit most costly way of acquiring gold is buying the Gold Treasure Chest Bundle using diamonds in the shop. The bundle costs around 500 diamonds which is around $11-12 in real money. Unless you're into P2W I highly discourage this method because it's too wasteful. Again, the game rewards you the most basic stuff (including gold) even if you're offline.
Just by completing the daily tasks given a decent amount of gold can be acquired. As we have said earlier there are lots of options available but here three of the fastest and free way to gather your gold.
**Swift Solutions**
Swift solutions is one of the main sources of bulk experience but it's also a decent source of gold. It rewards me 2700-4500 gold per task at level 58. Of course, the reward varies depending on the quality of tasks (rare, premium and normal) and the level of the character. A player can do 5 tasks per account daily so in my case I'm getting 13k gold per day which is not bad. The tasks are fairly easy and the estimated amount of completion for all 5 tasks in my case is around 7-10 minutes.
**Familiar Adventure**
One of my favorite options to gather resources in the game is familiar adventure. You could get upgrade materials by fighting wild familiars on the map. So, if you're focused on upgrading you're familiars you might find this option very handy. Be reminded about the CP or character power difference between each team as that also counts as a variable for a successful raid. Also, take note to pit the wild familiars with their weakness element and you're good to go. Earlier, I raided a level 5 water team with 145k CP earlier using 110K+ CP earth and still won (albeit barely).
A player get the reward instantly for fighting stray familiars. But for familiars stationed on resources there's an allotted gathering time before the team can be deployed again after defeating them. In my experience the longest time is around 40 minutes but don't worry since gathering these resources are done via afk. Resource nodes have different levels so the guards, resource quantity and gathering time also vary. Based on my experience the gold nodes can give 10-40k gold depending on their level (limited to level 1-5). Also, try to navigate and choose nodes with x2 buff as you can get more resources for the same effort. Each successful raid requires 2 adventure tickets so be sure to browse the map and pick up the most desirable nodes available. Node refreshes every 6 hours so there are plenty of time to search for that sweet spot.
**Goldbeard's Pirate Ship**
If we're talking about the fastest way to get a huge amount of gold for free then no doubt that one of the top choice would be the power-up dungeon Goldbeard's Pirate Ship. An important thing to remember is that this dungeon is of water element so it's highly advisable to use an earth/plant deck. The average time it took me to finish this dungeon is around 1 minute 30 seconds. As for the loot I get around 70-80k gold and chest. Every time a player defeats Goldbeard he level up. He becomes more tanky and his and his minions attacks also become more painful. Be sure to dodge his skills as it can literally one hit especially at higher levels. I'm still at level 7 and I think I need to upgrade my earth deck if I want to progress further.
**Gold Farming in Normal Maps**

Although we have lots of alternatives there's no doubt that afk farming in normal maps is still the best in terms of quantity of gold that you can get. The game is afk friendly no doubt about that but how can a player make the best out of it. In this video I chose a spot in Allegra Plateau that drops coins and statues. Although all monsters in normal maps drop gold and experience, one can actually target the loot for each monster. For gold farming we just want items that cost alot of gold and those are the coins and the statues. Silver coin is sold at 100 gold each, gold coin at 1000 gold each and the platinum one for 2000 gold each. The gold statues are sold for a whooping 10,000 each!
Take note that the farming spot should be within 8 levels of your character to get optimum drop rates. Potions are essential so be sure to have lots of them. I advised not to farm on higher level spots because you need alot of potions due to monsters having more damage. Remember that the purpose is to gather as much gold as possible. If we spend more in potions then that obviously defeat our purpose. If you have energy drink you can use them in farming spots for better results but be mindful that there are few nasty individuals that might PK your character while in afk. I advise setting your alignment to lawful and prioritize the players just in case someone troll you while farming.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds || Overview and A Semi F2P Basic Guide (Character Selection)

This post is already 2 days overdue so I apologize for that. It was supposed to be a brief summary of what I've experienced so far in playing the game for a week but the CP race kept me busy and I'm now at the 9th day. First of all, I'd like to say that it's a very indulging game. I'm still having some minor issues with the gameplay itself but the music and the animated sequences are definitely A-tier. To tell you the truth prior to playing the game I had only a vague idea of what it's all about. I had heard of the prior series *Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the Witch* so I knew it was an rpg with your typical fantasy elements but other than that I'm really clueless about the specifics.

What I noticed first after the installation was the server selection page with this dreamy background music playing and there was the name *Joe Hisaishi* at the bottom left corner of the screen. Later did I realize that it was the legendary Ghibli composer. Hayao Miyazaki did the visuals and this guy did those nostalgic scores which basically gave alot of people some amazing childhood memories.
It's like playing a game inside a Ghibli movie to be honest. The 5 main characters are G material especially the swordsman who looks like Howl from Howl's Moving castle. The default mount Catarumpus is a semblance of the cat bus from My Neighbor Totoro and speaking of Totoro the familiar sidekick NPC Cluu looks like a mini version of him. The environment is a feast for the eyes so if you ever want an mmorpg with both great visuals and music then this one might be for you.
**A Semi F2P Basic Guide**
**Character Selection**
There are five characters to choose from in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds and each one of them have their all individual merits. Switching classes in the game is very easy so I strongly advise everyone interested to dabble in each class and raise their levels at least up to level 20 to get each class' individual bonus. The +25 storage capacity would come handy as you progress in the game. But more importantly is that players would be able to choose their preferred main based on their experience. Anyways, below is a brief summary for each class to give you an idea.

The **rogue** is an agile long range dps character but unlike other bow characters from your usual mmorpg's this one has a few support skills which is great for utility in party plays. Ni no Kinu is a game that encourages party style play due to the several buffs each member could share within the party. And because of it's longer range, rogue class players have greater mobility compared to other classes. Coupled with other perks like fast attack speed it's great for afk grinding. F2P players will find this one their ideal class. Actually, the top player in our server is a rogue so we can really see the potential. The only downside is it's below average defenses. With almost same combat power a barbarian or a swordsman can easily decimate this one if ever they close the gap, so better be fast with your hands rouge mains.

**Witch** is a mid range dps character and the one who has the greatest burst potential. It can clear mobs the fastest but being a glass canon also has it's flaws. Essential witch skills like Crystal Wave and Blink either costs alot or have very low drop chances. If rogue has below average defense then witch is way lower than that so having the blink skill would be very important for survivability. For me it's not very F2P friendly unless one has alot of time to grind for those essential skills.

The **destroyer** is the tank of the game but we have a problem with this if we're in the F2P category. Although it has rock solid defenses it's low-mediocre damage is bad for grinding mobs making it lean more to being party dependent. Yes, the game encourages party style play but there are many instances where players choose to go solo so it would take a longer time for destroyers to level up. Also, the core skill for taunt costs money so it's not very F2P friendly.

**Engineer** is my main class in the game. It's a mid-range dps that has lots of heals and the party cooldown reduction buff is something sought after in both PVE and PVP situations. The important massive healing skill Healing Tree can be acquired within the game without spending a penny so it's very good for F2P players. This heals also saves alot of gold from buying potions another reason why alot of parties invite this class for PVE grinding. Engineer is the only class that has the resurrection skill (which is also free) and I'm currently at 70% progress in acquiring this skill. You can check this one in the medal shop. The only downside is the damage output as it pales in comparison to witch and rogue.

The **swordsman** is a melee dps class. It's more like an all around melee class with alot of useful buffs like for attack and movement speed. I find this class very useful as a party member in the 3 v 3 Lava Valley PVP especially because of the generous increase in mobility provided by the movement speed buff. Although not as strong as an engineer it also got a healing skill. There are a few downsides if your looking into this class if you're F2P. Melee classes in general has a bit of disadvantage in grinding mobs because some mob skills have wide range AOE skills. Most of the time all skills landed before killing the mobs even before a swordsman or a destroyer close the gap. Another one is that if one wants to play a swordsman to it's full potential then they'd need to spend a good amount of cash for the OP passive stun skill.
To furhter summarize my class recommendations for F2P's:
Rogue and Engineer > Witch > Swordsman > Destroyer

MIR 4 Diary, Log 4: Burn that GOLD for new WB Turkan and Legend Spirit Sumacheon

The game had been *laggy* the past few days before the update. There were a lot of problems I encountered like unsealing delays for treasure chests and relic boxes. Usually, players wouldn't take 3 seconds to fill the unsealing slots, but two days ago I had to wait and put each chest one after another with some brief intervals. The worst experience was using the travel scrolls as I experienced waiting for minutes instead of just viewing the usual 2-3 seconds animation of the page. Switching devices was also a pain because the android and mac devices wasn't able to read the update for a while. There's no problem in the PC version though but some of my friends who have alt or mining accounts via mobile was really frustrated as per the heated discussions in our discord group.

The end of the month patch note was huge. There was a new world boss, Violet Demon God Turkan. I'm not really keen on WBs but I do know that most if not all of them have fixed spawn areas and all servers have access to them. In case of Turkan it is scheduled to spawn every Thursday 23:00 p.m. server time but the catch is that it only spawns on random servers. The stage set for Turkan will obviously be larger and we'll see alot of expedition tickets being burned on Thursdays. Well, that would be another money burning dilemma for the competitive guilds.
Mir 4 is really admirable in creating this demand for people to expend but they probably need to up their game in the near future because lots of good competitors are starting to flood the market. Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds by netMarble is the new emerging MMORPG that I've been keeping an eye on. I started playing 2 days ago and I can already say that it's quite amazing. You got some amazing character and environment designs which seems that are inspired by Studio Ghibli. I'm not sure though but alot of elements of the game reminds me of Ghibli movies. There's also this mesmerizing soundtrack that sings nostalgia every time I start the game. Anyways, I'll try to make a post once I'm done immersing myself for a few more days.
The Legendary Spirit Stone Summon tab is convenient tool for spenders. Spenders often use gold for a chance to get epic spirits so why wouldn't they spend the same gold for the legendary ones? Legendary Summons is a great divide between spenders and f2p because the common summon scrolls can't be used in this tab. It's either gold or the legendary summon scrolls. Although I spent some cash in the game I think that it's just fair for those who are spending a lot. Some F2P players might envy the big spenders because of their exclusive access to in-game resources and even those who earn from their streams but what they didn't realize is that alot of those guys are playing at a loss. The usual accounts previously valued at millions of pesos are now down to hundreds of thousands. The hype is dying down. Whether it's F2P or spenders, the ones who will remain in the end are those who enjoy playing the game for fun.
And speaking of exclusivity, the new legendary spirit **North Sea Demon King Sumacheon** can only be obtained through the new summoning tab. It's another reason for people to burn their gold. I tried my luck just one time but what I got was a common one, my 120 gold down the drain. Sumacheon is really OP especially that movement speed debuff. I think this spirit would be great for warriors because of the Stun and KD resist. Even with great mobility arbalist would find it hard to escape with that significant debuff in their MS. No doubt this one would be sought after by warriors in the top rankings.

MIR 4 Diary, Log 3: Being Hunted by Multiple Clans // Should I jump to another server (again) !?

I'm almost two months here in Asia 2 server 84. The slow progress from the previous server led me to spend my free Wayfarer's Ticket. The first month was relatively peaceful. The two factions fighting were almost even which created a healthy and competitive atmosphere for players. The faction I joined in was ahead by a tiny bit so there's little interruption to daily activities like grinding for experience or mining dark steel in the valleys. There was a point where all valley holders were in NAP or friendly relations with our clan so we mined to our hearts content during those times.

Most players in this server are Filipinos but we are basically split into two camps. The one allied with the Chinese and the one who opposed them. Based on the offense - defense votes held before the previous castle siege, players are more inclined to the Chinese and that is very understandable. There are different reasons but sometimes it becomes personal, and that is where toxicity often starts with. In my original server, my clan there were also allies with the Chinese. We were initially neutral but no matter how neutral we were back then the kings of the server and their minions often harassed us. There were a lot of negotiations but I became tired of always being subservient, always the one to please them so I decided to transfer servers.
When the leader clan of a server fell and most of it's members fled, the next target of the winning alliance would be the medium size clans that supported them. In my case I bet on two losing sides consecutively which was quite bad. I didn't take it seriously and just use guerilla tactics when dealing with them but the burden seems to be becoming harder these days. Players like who is just level 85 have no choice but to just go with the flow. Even if one wanted to join a safer clan it still depends on the mood of it's high ranking members. Of course, strong ones are often welcome even if they came from the previous enemy camp. Also, even if one joins a neutral clan if it's too weak then it'd a prey in the special areas like the Secret Peak or Magic Square.
In my case, our clan was disbanded just a few days ago because of the frequent common area pk's. We're up against at least 5 clans so it was expected. We managed to held on for so long but it was inevitable. All star players of the faction we support left the server after their failed defense in the previous castle siege. Now, it's us that are being hunted. Most of my level 90+ clanmates either fled to other servers or join the opposing camp. It's a tough choice but with the latter's decision they could grind alot easier and they don't have to spend a sh*t ton of gold for the transfer.
The gold would costs at least 1200 gold which is around $30 if bought in the store. I could farm that amount in a month if lucky but that would halt my progress, particularly in codex and constitution.
I'm now in a different clan. Joining was strict because there's lot of spy things going around this server but they still let me join because of our previous alliance. We have one strong guy here an arbalist at level 110. Sadly, he alone can't fend off the attacks. We were full members 3 days ago, now we're down to 42/50. It's the same trend that happened to my other clan. I'm doing what I can to survive as long as possible but if this goes on I might as well jump servers for the second time.

Why Life is Beautiful (La Vita è Bella) is one of my favorite WW2 films of all time.
I love watching war films, especially those historical ones. Of course, not all of them are accurate but it still is interesting to catch a glimpse of the struggles and triumphs of those great men and women. Most common storyline for the war films I've watched emphasized on the valiance of an individual or a group of individuals in a particular chaotic situation in their timeline. Sometimes I wonder what would happen to me in case I was born in those era. Well, I do not want to be hero or someone who stands out. Most heroes became heroes because they needed to sacrifice themselves and obviously a lot of them were short-lived. I don't want that. For me just being a bystander who live his life to the fullest would already be considered as a victory given the supposedly tumultuous period I have to live in.
Life is Beautiful ( La vita è bella ) is unique even amongst war movies. It's not about being valiant to save the motherland from an oppressor rather it's a personal struggle of the protagonist to retain his positive attitude even amidst the lurking dangers around him and his family. Actually, the first half of the film is more of a romantic-comedy because of the protagonist ingenuity to pursue his *princess* Dora.
The overly optimistic Guido Orefice reminded me of The Three Stooges and Mr. Bean because of the kind of humor he had. It's very instinctive. The comedy in my opinion was just okay I'd rate it at 7/10, maybe a 8/10 if we consider the classic setting. It's good but not to the point that I would consider it as exceptional. For me a good comedy is when I remember it, and an exceptional one is when it makes me laugh again just from memory. The two egg scenes with Dora's fiancé was quite remarkable, especially that Ostrich egg scene when he finally realized the waiter's identity. The other comedy scenes in the first half was quite on the generic side for me.
Although the first half was pre-dominantly for laughs we couldn't miss those dark details in some scenes and conversations. It's almost the dawn of the Holocaust and there were different sentiments floating around. When Guido posed as the Inspector of Rome visiting the school where Dora teaches we'd see how strict the principal was. Aside from reminding the students to be prim and proper she often emphasized the superiority of their race even telling it to Guido upfront. That's dark because we know Guido is a Jew which was considered as a minor or lesser race. Another uncomfortable scene for me would be the dining table conversation during the engagement party. It was the principal again who felt very frustrated about a certain third grade math problem which goes like this:
"*A lunatic costs the state 4 marks a day, a cripple 4 and a half marks and an epileptic 3 and a half marks. Considering the average is 4 marks a day and there are 300,000 patients, how much would the State saves if these individuals were eliminated?*"
This scene actually represented the different views of the people in Italian high society during those times. One side was Dora which said that she couldn't believe it because of the cruel nature of the math problem and on the other side which was the Madam which also stated that she also couldn't believe it albeit due to it's technical difficulty for a seven year old child. Also, she mentioned that the German kids are solving the problem in their land adding with awe that, *they are truly a different race*. Coming from someone who viewed her race as a superior one it was a subtle implication that she was subservient to Germans. It's like a small representation of the relationship between Adolf and Benito.
The second half made the movie more dynamic as the atmosphere took a 180 degree turn. Dora's choice to board the train meant a lot. For me at least it implies that even amongst the superior races there were still those that remained human. On the other hand, positivity never left Guido but it's different now. If in the first half he was once a lamp that could light an entire room, in the second half he was merely a burning matchstick waiting to be extinguished. In the entire movie despair was never seen in his eyes but I doubt that he couldn't feel it. It's his fear of losing his son and wife that prevented him from showing that very fear.
Guido's German translation is one of my favorite scene. It seems like the translation was very on spot because of the gestures and the confidence in his speech. It's a very entertaining part. His antics and creativeness was very consistent and thanks to that he managed to save his son. Well, if he didn't bother to check on his wife he would have lived but that would put a crack on his character. In the end he died but he was victorious because the people treasure the most was saved. Thanks to him never giving up.
I read that this film is loosely based on a true story and I admire to whoever this story belongs to. The film was quite complicated because of the sudden shift of moods and it has a bitter sweet ending nonetheless I truly enjoyed this one. It's something that I would remember even after many years.

MIR 4 Diary, Log 2: Tier 2 Safeguard Earrings Crafted! | Raiding SS and the Hatchery Cave
Hello everyone!
So I finally managed to craft my Safeguard earrings from 2 pieces of tier 1 Raging Blow earrings. Materials for rare equipment are fairly easy to find as you can just mine red ores in common maps for base materials like rare steel or iron ore. If one have enough power score or PS they can go to the 7th floor of either Magic Square or Secret Peak to find ores with golden or yellow nodes which drop rare secondary materials for weapons, armor and even accessories. A little recap in terms of rarity: white(common) < green(uncommon) < blue(rare) <red(epic) < gold or yellow (legendary). I think the power score required to enter these floors is around 108k PS. It's quite high but achievable with diligent grinding.
So above is my old tier 1 earrings. There are two paths to choose from for every kind of equipment from uncommon to epic equipment. Either you go for the PVP build or the monster build, it depends on your play style. For the earrings I chose the monster path which increases my Monster DMG Reduction by a certain degree. For me it's more helpful as it can save me HP potions in the long run while grinding experience. Also, to progress further to the main storyline one needed to face high level mobs which are sometimes 20-30 levels above you. Having a bit of damage reduction increases the chances of survival during these precarious situations.
It took me several times to upgrade it to +6 because the success chance is not that high. Thankfully I have lots of those mystic and darkened enhancements stones available. I'm saving them because I wanted to craft a +8 rare gloves or ring once I have enough resources. +8 equipment can be used as a substitute for a higher grade dragon material. Example, if I manage to enhance my rare gloves to +8 later on, I wouldn't need to find an epic dragon scale as my core ingredient to craft epic gloves.
Anyways, even without enhancement to power score of the earrings increased by almost 25% which is quite significant. I applied an A-grade Knockdown Success Boost instead of the S-grade Monster ATK Boost because knockdown success is the bread an butter of lancers. Four active skills have knockdown effect so I think it would be worth it.

Aside from crafting materials the whole process burned 300k+ copper and 200k+ dark steel from my inventory. It was quite costly considering that it's dangerous to mine dark steel in valleys right now.
Aside from upgrading earrings we did our daily raids. There's a 5-man raid and 15-man boss raids. Of course the 15-man are harder. There's alot to choose from but I usually stick Sinner's Den or Hatchery Cave for the 5-man and Grand Centipedus or Steelbone Specter for the 15-man raid. Of course, the more powerful the boss the better the rewards. I pick these bosses because they are not too strong or weak for me. Also, even with trolling or quitting teammates I'm confident to finish the raid without a hitch. I only go to stronger boss raids when there's someone who can hard carry team given the circumstances.

Two months ago I still die 2 or 3 times during the Steelborne raid but it's a different story now. I think enhancing my Chi was a great help. SS skills are not that painful especially if you have a taoist which heals you from the back. The annoying ones are the small tornadoes that suck you in from time to time. So, better save you're dodge if you don't have a Nanja or Fox in your spirit deck.
The best thing a boss can drop during these raids is an epic equipment. That's like hitting a lottery. Well, those cost at least 10k gold in the marketplace so it's a real jackpot if you manage to get one. Right now, I'm contented with that epic centennial fruit and a handful of old silvers.

MIR 4 Diary, Log 1: Sarmati's Mission Scroll [Normal Grade] Almost Done! (+ Gathering Tips)
Hello everyone!
I was lucky to win a normal grade Sarmati's Mission scroll from our clan event 3 weeks ago. Although there is a free version of this which is available for all players, there is a big gap in the rewards compared to the 2 paid versions. The normal grade which I won costs $10 and the advance grade costs around $30. Both are valid for a month's duration.
Aside from the generous rewards, the paid version also activates hunting exp and copper gain bonuses. For the normal grade it is 10% and an additional 15% for the advance. These bonuses stack with others which makes it a great deal for those people who have $10-$40 to spend every month. As for normal free-to-play player like me, even the cheaper one is already a luxury.
It is only the 22nd of May and I'm still required to complete 3 quests to claim the remaining rewards left. I am looking forward in obtaining the rare dragon eye which is listed as the 28th reward. I already claimed one earlier this month but I need the other one to upgrade my earrings to tier 2. Secondary weapons and earrings are harder to obtain than regular equipment. This is especially true if we're talking about the rare, epic and of course the legendary ones. It's tedious because it requires a player to hunt bosses. The bosses are not much of a problem though but the real pain is other players who wanted to snatch the reward chests. Sometimes there are those who just want to troll around.
There are still plenty of available missions available to complete my normal grade scroll but I think I'd stick around with {Complete Elite Missions}[50 times], {Cooperate with Clan Advancement}[500 times] and {Attempt to Enhance Constitution}[10 times]. I'd like to do some valley missions but all valley holders have conflict with our clan so that's a bad idea. They would incur no penalty in case they pk us in their valleys.
I'm almost done with the {Attempt to Enhance Constitution} mission and the {Cooperate with Clan Advancement} is almost effortless as one only need to donate few resources every now and then. For the elite missions one can do 30 dailies per day, so in two days we can also complete this without any difficulties. I wanted to overlap this to other quests that's the reason why I chose some tedious ones to make up for the rest. One mission I hate was to kill 75 field bosses. Boss monsters are not difficult to kill but the main problem lies with the respawn time.
Most people are not really fond of treasure chests but it's actually a good past time when you have nothing else to do. Like other elements of the game, each treasure chest that respawn on maps have different tiers: common (white), uncommon (green) and rare (blue). I've only seen red ones on special maps like the Secret Peak and Magic Square, as for gold ones I've only seen high floor bosses on both SP and MS drop them. Finding treasure chests on common maps is not that difficult as people are more focused on either gathering or just hunting monsters. Of course higher level maps drop more generous rewards compared to lower level ones. For rare ones there's a certain chance of obtaining summon scrolls which are like gatcha tickets for obtaining spirit stones, skill books and dragon parts needed to craft equipment.

As of the moment I'm half way done with this quest. I paused it sometime today because I needed to do other things like enhancing my constitution. It adds a few points in attributes for every enhancement. Although it's not that much it becomes relevant when it adds up. For enhancing constitution, inner force and chi we need three essential things and those copper, energy and medicine. There are different types of medicine but those primarily use in constitution gathered in bushes.
There are many gathering grounds available for me but I prefer hunting red or epic bushes instead of idling in these grounds. Of course, there are still a red bush which spawns here from time to time but it's a different story if the grounds is crowded. Red bushes have certain chances of dropping epic medicine so it was worth hunting some than idling many hours in the grounds where there are lots of green bushes available. Those drop trash materials which needed additional resources to upgrade to higher tiers so I don't really like them because it's more time consuming in my opinion.

Is the Play-to-Earn Dream Over?
Last year it was around these months when NFT games gained tremendous popularity and became one of the major focal points of the crypto world. The dream of play-to-earn was unreal before it's inception. I remembered playing Splinterlands (Steemmonsters) even before the advent of Axie Infinity and the lot a few years before but it was not that popular at that time. P2E was still an unexplored territory for most, something that the normal hobbyist wouldn't even dream of.
In the past decades only those who were cream of the crop of their communities are somewhat eligible to earn from their passion. From Tetris to Overwatch to Dota 2 and so on, there's alot of money involve in e-sports tournaments. Then there came streaming amidst the gaining popularity of different e-sports tournaments. Making money from streams is quite different, as the audience or the viewers mostly favor the entertainment value over a particular skillset. That's also the reason why some ladies wear borderline porn clothes - exposing most of their soul and flesh to those mortal simps.
But what about those that don't have any redeeming quality (like me and you). The normal hobbyist who just and play for fun and don't have the gift of humor nor a pair of bouncy jelly racks attached. The glory days of Axie Infinity might be over but the noise it created was so loud it is still reverberated through the ears of many. Play-to-earn might be conceptualize a few years or even decades earlier but it's Axie Infinity imo that really made it came to life for alot of people in this generation, albeit not for a very long time. Even before the devastating decline of Axie Infinity there were already lots of projects that mirrored them but failed earlier.
In the Philippines I remember that Cryptoblades and Plants vs. Undead were popular. Some people were living the dream, earning months of their wages in a span of days. It's like a fairytale until reality hit them really hard. The glitter and shimmer of fast returns seemingly cover the red flags which were obviously there. Majority of the P2E games released to markets were poorly made. Things that you wouldn't even rate a star in Google play. Knocked off versions of popular character from both video games and anime were printing almost everyday. The first ones to enter were lucky as they can get their ROI earlier. The masses that would enter at the peak of the hype had it worst. To say it directly majority of the P2E games are very similar to your scams or what they call the Pyramid Scheme.
Right now things are not looking good for P2E gaming. With numbers down to as low as 90% from their ATH the accumulated loss of investments are obviously there. The scandals and hacking issues make people also question if they're just being played right from the start. Well, as they say 'doubt if it's to good to be true'. Although the disappointment was there some projects are still hanging by a thread of hope. The challenge was to maintain a sustainable economy where the money flows in and out naturally. But that is easier said than done. So, is the P2E dream over? That my friend is subjective. It's called a dream because there's faith put into it. Of course people could just liquidate their funds and call it quits. But for those who are in limbo it's more of a question on how long can they cling to their hopes. Some call it revolutionary while some just lunacy.

Ramblings on Shawshank Redemption
Yesterday I watched the movie The Shawshank Redemption for the nth time. I love the film that's why I keep on coming back. Maybe, I feel empathy towards Andy Dufresne. The physical and sexual abuse by 'The Sisters' was hinted in Red's narration but I think it was the emotional shock that did more damage to him. Cool headed protagonist are the great because they think before they make an action. To add more, Dufresne is an intellectual. Being on point and not wasting valuable time of others is very likable, at least for me. There is something subtly threatening about the aura. Still water runs deep as they say. Well, these people usually lack enthusiasm that make them look boring, but that is okay. Communication is important as expressing thoughts and feelings is indispensable for us humans. But sometimes what we search for couldn't be found by making noises, sometimes the answers lie in stillness.
It's funny that alot of opinions say that the movie is overrated. It's very ironic when it was an outcast on it's first release back in 1994. With more popular choices like Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, Lion King etc. the film was more like a substitute when tickets run out for these popular ones. A second choice or maybe a third one at worst. The lack of beautiful leading ladies didn't appeal much to the masses. Who would want Rita Hayworth's poster as an eye candy for most of the film? There was also Marilyn and Racquel but yes, they were all on print. Prison life is something I don't want to experience. I bet most of us don't. But you know I have this friend who was really impoverish back in the days. He was a good person but life was not that to him. One time he mentioned that getting in jail would be heaven to him. Free accommodation and you'd eat three times a day. It's funny there are good people wanted to go to jail because they can't afford to live a normal life here in the open. Thankfully, my friend found his break a couple of years ago. He's now married and stable. Hope is something we would find when we need it but there are often times we didn't realize that it's within us. When everyone thought Andy would commit suicide he escaped. He kept his hope for 19 years and that was amazing. Man was digging for a long time with his rock hammer. The walls were vulnerable, if it's made with quality cement the hammer wouldn't carve through. Maybe that's a subtle idea hinting prison corruption. Well, being smart and lucky is an excellent plot armor. The film is great. I don't know about you but it's definitely in my top 5 best films of all time.

A Tale of Life and Death
Life is not just about the rainbows and sunshine. I didn't realize it until this February when I lost one of my dearest cousins. She was 10 years older than me and she was a special one. The moment is fleeting but I can still vaguely remember the day when she started her first day of work. It was an office job to some influential person in the city and luckily due to some connections she managed to get in. Well, some might say that it's a bad thing to do. You know using personal connections, as these are the ways how dirty politicians do their business. I couldn't care less as I'm just transitioning to high school during those times. She quit after a month or two. I overheard that there were some really shady business going on there and as a fresh graduate she was afraid of things that might happen if she stayed for a longer time.
I used to be a nomad back in my pre teen days. Sleeping in houses of my relatives seemed to be an addiction during those times. Being in the middle of the pack I'm close to almost all my cousins. I'm also a solo child till I was 15 so they were the ones that I look up to in my childhood. This particular cousin of my mine was really close to our heart because she belong to the kindest and sincerest type of person one could imagine. I was there in her first pay check. I remember wolfing down lots of sweets and delicacies she bought. Time passed and she got pregnant. She was about to get married but she and his fiancé was caught up in a deadly motor cycle accident. The fiancé died and was in ICU for almost half a year. She was never normal after that. The adults said that it was the effect of the high dosage drugs she took. The baby luckily was still alive and well. He is even bigger than me now.
Like the pages of a book we flipped in the time when she married another guy. She was still normal and my relatives was against it. I was a full pledge adult at this point in time and I can see, she was happy. They got a baby girl and I am one of the many godparents they chose. Her life was like a plot of some drama series but the end was not that well. During the covid surge here in the Philippines her husband got sick and have to be admitted in a hospital some 70 miles away. Traveling was almost impossible at that time as there are many permits to be presented so she got no choice but to bear it alone. Her husband again passed away shortly after.
Her brothers and sisters was there for her. We thought that it would be fresh start for the mother and child. She worked her as off during pandemic making sure that her youngest would not starve. If you're curious about the eldest child. He's now in her grandmas place provided with lots of financial and emotional stability. After a visit one of her brothers notice that she seems to be unwell. Her feet were swelling so they rushed her to the hospital. She died a day after. It was heartbreaking she hide it from us. Maybe she did not want to trouble anyone. It was the saddest day in the moment of my life. It was an early passing as she was not even 40. Just two months after here we are in the same situation. One my of nieces died at the tender age of 17 yesterday. It was devastating. I hope with all my heart that they are in good hands now.
Open Field, Cows and Bridges
I started walking every afternoon when my weight hit around 94 kg. At 5'10" the BMI said that I'm overweight bordering moderately obese. I walk the same route for 21 days now and on a calorie deficit. Thankfully there are significant results as I'm now down to 88 kg. My target weight is around 65-70 kg by the end of the year. Let's see if I'll achieve it. :)

After two weeks of using the platform I found that there's a community dedicated for introduction. Although I'm a bit late let me properly introduce myself.
Who Am I? How it all started?
I'm a male in my late 20's living here in the Philippines. I quit my day job around 5 years ago and now mainly works as a freelancer/content creator. My blockchain journey started when I read a thread from a forum called BlackHatWorld more than 4 years ago. I met Steemit and that's where most of my knowledge and experience in crypto space started to accumulate.
Sadly, after Justin Sun bought Steemit Inc most of the opportunities are allocated to a selected few. Of course, there were exceptions but most of the community I'm comfortable with migrated to the Steem fork called Hive.
Honestly, the younger me was more of a content consumer than a content creator. I love to read and watch topics about science, gardening. travel etc. My hunger for consuming content led to me to being a curator for one of the oldest curation guilds on Steem (which later on migrated to Hive). I'm still doing curation works everyday there but sadly our guild's influence is becoming weaker by the day. I'm afraid that there will come a time that I can't curate anymore. Although I gain a decent sum curating content it's more of a passion for me than a source of income.
Practice, practice, practice. I'm not a good writer; my grammar sucks and my English is weak. I also got poor communication skills but I will try my very best to improve. Having more avenues to let me interact with different people would surely help.
I'm glad that I encountered read.cash. It's a fresh start for me. The type of content I make is inconsistent as I write almost about everything. I'm happy that there is another platform out there to where I can share my content with. Also, I noticed that there are many of my 'kababayans' here. Some of them found the freedom offered by the blockchain and I'm very proud about their success.
Here in the Philippines there's a stereo type where if someone does not work a 9-5 job he/she is lazy. How wish that I wish more platforms like read.cash would break this kind of stereotyping culture some freelancers and content creators are experiencing.
Jack of all Trades
I accumulate random but useful set of skills through the years. Staying at home, I learnt about many things like: carpentry, gardening, cooking and mostly home maintenance. I do have so much free time because of the nature of my work. While working online I also develop some essential skills. I learnt how to edit videos and photos because of youtube. The channel would be a secret but I do have some 320k subs on one of my education channels. I planning to claim my silver play when I reached 500k :). One of the most important skills I learnt is the curation skill; cross referencing content on a variety of platforms and asking the validity from content creators might sound easy but is actually a very tedious job. There is too much plagiarism going on so we always need to be careful to the votes we give. But I must say that it's a fun job as I experienced interacting with many people of different nationalities. In a way, validating content helped some creators to maximize their earning potential or prevent their content to be stolen by a third party entity.
Knowledge is power. I develop a habit of always checking the news in the morning after I wake up. Looking on the current markets is also an essential tool to make future profits. I'm not deep into technical analysis but I do have a vague idea of the trends. In my free time I often read manga/manhwa or watch movies.
Like I said earlier I wrote about almost everything. My blog would probably contain anime/manga reviews, gardening and pretty much about everything under sun. I want to be consistent in producing decent content. Consistency is very important. Hopefully, we'd see some improvements along the way.
Plans for the Future
**Weight loss**
I gained alot of weight during the pandemic. 21 days ago I was at 93.5 kg on the weighing scale, very far from normal weight which is just around 70-75 kg. Reality struck me hard when I found difficulties in breathing, numbness in my limbs and wriggly stretch marks appearing on my belly. I often experienced severe acid reflux 1 or 2 a.m. in the morning. It seemed to me that warning signs are appearing everywhere.
After experiencing those terrible events I started my weight loss journey. My daily routine now consist of 5km walk, 100 push ups and 50 squats. I also stopped drinking carbonated drinks and alcohol. I limit my calorie intake to 1500-1800 kcal everyday. Thankfully, after 21 days I'm now at 88 kg. Five kilograms in 20 days is not much but it's a good start.
**Consistency on Content**
Due to months of hiatus I lost the favor of the youtube algorithm. From earning $1,200-$2,000/month I'm now down at a measly $80-120/month. This is where I learnt that consistency is very important in content creation. I'm planning to be more consistent as much as possible not only in youtube but also in Read.cash and in Hive.
**More aggressive on Crypto**
Bulk of my money sits on the bank (~90%). In the next crash I'll try pulling out 25% and spread it to different coins. I have some success these past few years in trading with only a meager capital so I'll try going bigger this time. These might be risky but I'm willing to wait years to see profits from these investments.
One of my end goals would be to set up an apartment complex near a university. Ha! I'm still far from there but it's also one of the reasons why I keep on grinding daily.

Easy Peasy Pork Liver and Bokchoy Sauté by LKP
Today, I'd be sharing with you a super simple and super fast recipe.
This would be great for people who are on the rush and/or just lazy to wait and cook for a long time. The inspiration for this is the mostly the leftovers we had from the fridge. Last night, I bought a lot of skewers from the barbeque guy and we still had some two big pork liver leftovers. The other day, I went to the wet market and bought lots of vegetables like carrots, potatoes etc... I just noticed that the bok choy (a.k.a pechay) was starting to wilt. My careless sister put it under the heavy veggies so I didn't notice it earlier.
Now, I promise that it'd be super fast, so enough of my inner monologue for now.
The ingredients:
Liver (grilled, leftovers) - around 120 grams
Bok Choy (pechay cleaned and rinsed in running water) - 2 bundles
Onions
Garlic
Salt and Pepper
Soy sauce
MSG (optional)
Oyster sauce (optional)
You'd notice that there are two pieces of okra. I might not notice them. They were still perishable and might if forgotten. So, instead of throwing them in the near future I just added them. Anyways, okra's cook time is around 5 minutes while bok choy is around 2-3 minutes if I remembered correctly.

After preparing the ingredients. We heat a some oil in the frying pan.
Sauté garlic and onions and wait for not more than a minute.
We are in high heat so we need to keep time in check.
Step 2:

Bok choy already holds plenty of water. So if you'll add some be careful lest it will turn into soup.
Add some soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt and pepper .

Some Significant Gains Last Month | When should I pull that sell trigger on DOT ?
Recently, I sold around 700+ Hive during the recent pump. I immediately place a buy order after for 1500 Hive at around 0.22$, depending on future markets I think that I’d still buy some below the $0.30 price point. I want to gain that Hive back again (and sell again for some gains. Rinse and repeat.).
But hey it adds up in the long run!
I’ve seen significant gains in my portfolio during these past few months trading (~300-400 USD) mostly on Hive and DOT. I’m not trading daily just once or twice every month, sometimes only once every two months.
Actually, I’ve set up a rules for myself to not lose money (or not to get depressed over losing it if ever 😄). One is, all gains/losses in crypto remains in crypto. If I gain money by selling something, I’d wait for an opportunity to buy back more using the same amount of capital. It doesn’t matter if it took me a long time or even forever. But even the idea of love is proven not to last forever so I’m quite confident that the opportunity to flip will eventually come.
I watch the markets almost everyday on my computer. It’s quite the hassle but I never put crypto and banking applications on my phone for easy access. It’s not that convenient but for security reasons I felt some sacrifices are needed. It’s not really that safe in my place. My cousin’s phone was snatched years ago and I saw how it sucked for her. Although there are security features, account retrieval was very frustrating.
I still keep some petty online cash (at most $100) on my phone for small transactions like buying load or sometimes even paying bills.

BTC dominance these days usually sits above 45% (47% currently). Price continues to soar but I’m quite worried about that low volume. Not really an expert ( or something even close) but those volume stats is just as important as the price imo.
Alts are quite the slowpokes tho, it took some time for them to follow pumps on BTC. Funny enough they fell down just as fast as BTC during crashes. Perks of dominance?
I’m quite happy that DOT is pumping today. I bought 20 @ 14.5, then another 10 @ 13.5 just before it crashed to $11 levels. What a pity, I could have bought ~30% more if I waited a couple of days.
Last June 15 BTC High was around 41K ($46.4B in volume) and DOT High was at $26(3.15B in volume), now BTC is around 42K with DOT at $18.5-19. There are factors to consider but price alone that’s still a $7 deficit.
Currently (@18.5 per DOT) my gains is around ~ $130 which is not bad. I’m not planning to sell now though. I set a sell order of a whopping $40 per DOT days ago. I think it’ll take many months for them to sell, maybe even years but I’m not in a rush for now.
There’s a chance that I might change my mind in the future but I’ll just stick with my own set of rules, no regrets whatsoever.

That time I almost became a ConMan [Part2]
The first two weeks were the best. I easily got acquainted with my fellow trainees. Befriending them let me view things a bit differently. At that time I thought I've seen much of this world but reality slapped me hard on the face. Different people, different circumstances in life...
It seemed that I'd been underestimating the real world from the tiny box where I spent most of my time. I guessed I was just another frog in the bottom of the well.
I thought that I was the most 'mature' in that new group of friends, it turned out that I was actually a fledgling when compared to everyone. Most of them looked really young. Actually, Roland the runt of our group just surpassed my shoulder height by a tiny bit. We initially thought that he was the youngest but guess what, he's five years older than most of all us. Another shocking discovery was that he was already a father of three at that time and their family was expecting another baby. Looks can really be deceiving I guess.
Half of our group already had a family of their own. As for the reasons why we ended up together on that same job, it's a scramble of various personal circumstances if I must say.
Lemuel, a tall skinny guy got a fight with her mom. He already had a child and had no job, his mother was the one supporting their family of three. She remarried a guy from U.S. and had been sending financial support to them. Lemuel was really pissed off when we talked about it on our drinking sessions. Always referring to her mom as 'That old hag', he always trash talked her when he was under the influence of alcohol. I really didn't agree with him but didn't voice it out, after all I'm not really much better. Who was I to criticize? Another thing, I was free loading them be it alcohol, cigarettes and sometimes even lunch.
I was so broke that it came to a point that my moral compass was already being affected.
There was also this girl named Kim. Simping aside, she's the flower of the group. We usually drank alcohol at her place. Those drinking sessions were just to let our frustrations out... something to let someone hear us out even for just a while. There was never a debaucherous air... there were alot of puking though.
Although Kim entertained us really well as guest she never drank with us.
"Hey, Kim is really nice. She's very accommodating to us, a pity we never shared a glass." Arwin, a guy with glasses said. He's like me (single and unemployed) but to tell you the truth I didn't like him. I mean there was something different about him, I thought he was hiding something.
"Do you think a pregnant woman would drink alcohol? Are you out of your mind?" Roland snickered.
I guess being a father of three was not for show. While most of us were admiring how pretty and considerate Kim was, Roland already unveiled one of her secrets.
"Why would someone wear sweaters all the time in this kind of weather?" he added.
It turned out that the reason why Kim was always wearing loose sweaters even in hot and humid weather was because she's lactating. Roland described how his wife had the same experience.
"If she wear something tight it would put pressure on her chest and it'd be wet", he stated like a science teacher explaining the water cycle.
I didn't know if that was something gentlemen had to talk about so I suggested that we end the conversation. The short break was already over and we were to come back in the office but none of us noticed the glint in Arwin's eye...

That time I almost became a ConMan [Part 1]
I can still remember that time almost five years ago. That's the first time I've worn a suit, neck tie and long sleeves for almost a month. That leather shoes I borrowed was a bit small, I always had calluses and bruises all over my heels, those parts near the Achilles tendon and at the sides of my feet.
"You need to be formal and presentable", my mate told me. He's been working there for two years I think.
I checked my wallet and what's left is my last 500 Peso bill ( around 10 USD). That was the last string for me, that one string that separated me from those people who sat on cartons - those who lifted their empty cans when someone passed by.
Just one year.
Just one year and I can enter the university again. I'd get a decent job, date girls again, marry someone pretty and get a happy life.
Just one year.
Those were the words I kept on saying to myself, repeating them almost every time my mind was devoid of any other thought. I needed to build a motivation to live. I couldn't fail. I knew I had to walk, but first I must find a road.
The interview was finished and I did great. The interviewer was a lady in her early 30's. She had a beautiful smile on her face and was comfortable to talk to. I looked at her face the entire time, at the corner of my eye I knew she was wearing something revealing. I didn't dare to do anything that would forsake my chances to enter the company. Just a glance below the neck line and I'd be dead. At the end she smiled at me and told me to come back a few hours later.
I was lucky. Out of 50-ish interviewees they only accepted 8 people and I was one of them.
We had to train for a month. Communication skills were polished every single day. I'm not very good in English even until now. But the trainer told us that it needed not to be perfect, English skills is only secondary. What we needed to build was confidence.
"They know it. They can smell your doubts. You'd not sell anything if you're not confident enough. Better quit and find another job, but I doubt you'd find something as good paying as this one. Hehehe", the trainer said with a smirk plastered on his face.
I know it was good paying, just his presence told everything to us. A huge man, neatly dressed and with so many accessories shining from him, he looked like those noble men from medieval movies. Three golden rings on his right hand and two on his left, two of them embedded with red and green jewels just a bit smaller than a marble. And that necklace, 'Is he a dog?', that was the first sentence that came through my mind. Anyway, he was a nice guy it's just he was too overwhelming for my eyes.

My First Impressions on Eleceed [Manhwa]
I'm now at chapter 37 of Eleceed and it's been quite a ride. Story is unique, great dose of comedy and some exceptional fight scenes here and there. But there's a problem, I'm getting some yaoi vibes and it's getting more pronounce as I continue with the chapters. This will be a short review, maybe you can take it as some sort of first impression. Like I said I'm only still at chapter 37 and there are already 140ish chapters out now translated in English.
**I'm expecting a better ending than Noblesse**
There are many positive reviews about Eleceed that we can find on the web. The author is the same one who penned Noblesse. I really like everything about Noblesse except for the ending. It's one of the first manhwa that I finished reading a few years ago. It's great but I'm quite disappointed on how it ended. If I ever decided to continue reading Eleceed I'm expecting more from the author (Son Je Ho), especially on the latter part of the series. I see that the plot for Eleceed is building up pretty well. I see that connections between characters meticulously woven since the earliest chapters and I'm positive that it will just get better. Structurally, it gave me the same vibes as Noblesse. In Noblesse, the trigger was the noblest of vampires, now in Eleceed we have the best of the awakened beings albeit transformed into a big fat cat. Hopefully, the end will be satisfying and not fall short, I do not want to see a collapse in this one. It would be frustrating.
**Big Fat Cat is a Game Changer**
The focal point of Eleceed's humor is Kaiden in fat cat form, and the dumbness of the MC (Jiwoo) only acts as a complement. In Son Je Ho's Noblesse, the humor and the lightness come from the supporting characters a mix with the otherworldliness of Cadis Etrama Di Raizel. It's a great combination of someone so nonchalant surrounded by companions with different levels of liveliness.
Both Eleceed's Kaiden and Noblesse's Raizel are true reprensatatives of OPness in their respective series, both also have their powers restricted through different means. In Raizel's case, he was put to slumber for 820 years because of his intense fight with the werewolf lord Muzaka. In Kaiden's case he was so badly injured being ganged up by his enemies and has no choice but to polymorph as a big fat cat to avoid his pursuers and also to recuperate.
Because of just one cat, Eleceed became a much lighter read than Noblesse. I know that there are also some elements to consider like the setting for example. Noblesse is centered on the power structure and hierarchy of the fantastical society of vampires, werewolves and superhumans. And although there are high schoolers directly involved with the main character we can't deny that most highlights for Noblesse are the intense fight scenes which showcase the unfathomable powers, especially of the vampire side. Eleceed is different because it focuses on the younger characters improvement and relationships. Yes, there are certainly different powerful organizations involve which creates a serious atmosphere once in a while but most of what I've read so far is a youngster's search for self improvement with the help of his overpowered cat mentor.
The expressions made by Kaiden in cat form is priceless comedy, something any type of reader would agree.
**Yaoi vibes and males with pouty lips, Is Eleceed's art a disaster for manly readers?**
Even after just reading 37 chapters I'm convinced that Eleceed is certainly a top tier read in the manhwa category. I'm still on the early parts but I can see that there are already instances of Jiwoo's and Kaiden's character developing. For Jiwoo it starts when he find people who will accept him, companions that he wouldn't need to hide who he really is. The powers that seems to chain him for years are now being accepted by someone. For Kaiden, it's finding out the simple joys of life. He who have everything from the beginning is slowly adapting in an unfamiliar world of mortals and common sense, though I bet he still has more common sense than Jiwoo.
I'm already foreseeing a great character development even in the future. My latest read was when they're playing cards in the hospital and that pretty much cemented who the supporting characters would be.
Plot is definitely great. Story is in medium pace right now after the two minor arcs (experiment incident and fight between two supports). It's engaging and definitely worth reading, at least for now. The art is one of the cleanest I've seen so far, it's being illustrated by Zhena the one who is also responsible for drawing The Girls of the Wild. Zhena is a wonderful and very talented artist, one of the best when it comes to depicting those crazy fight scenes. I had lots of fun with the action in The Girls of the Wild and same here with Eleceed. But there's quite a problem, the facial expression. Zhena overly emphasizes on the facial structure (i.e. the lips) which is not bad in a sense.
In TGOTW, most of the characters are female so emphasizing beauty through vibrant facial expressions was undoubtedly effective, it added that certain level of sweetness. But I'm really torn how to accept that in Eleceed. In a story where most characters are male it's quite shocking for me to see pink pouty lips, blushes and crystal clear eyes on almost every major character. I know, I went to a forum anonymously and complained that it gave yaoi vibes and you know what happened I got owned by users most of which are females simping on the characters. It's disturbing for me, I mean I have fun reading some shoujo but this type of art plastered on manly characters get on my nerves somehow. The interactions between characters (most man to man) are 'too soft' for my taste. I know that the author is building up connections but I can't help it. It makes me uneasy.
**Final Thoughts**
All in all I like Eleceed and there's no doubt that it's top tier in it's class. Aside from the disturbing art on facial like the pink pouty lips and the sense of bromance here and there there's nothing much for me to complain. Oh, I remember, maybe adding some female characters would be cool to balance things out, almost 40 chapters and I've only seen a single female character.
Eleceed is a great read and girls especially would really love it. If you're not easily bothered by the overuse of embellishments on facial expressions then this would be a great read for you. Easy 9.5/10 overall for me.
