I'm sharing with you another dreamy moment, from our photo-trip around breathtaking Iceland where we were given the unexpected present of meeting Aurora Borealis. Yes, it was the end of August, what's called a summer in the Northern Hemisphere :) Not a typical summer though, as it was -2 degree C that night and I was with my winter thermo-clothes :) #PhotographersOnNoiseCash

What is the shutter speed and aperture value? It looks like you have a very light lens :)
15 seconds with f/2.8, 16mm on full frame ;) Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 EF L II ISO 1600
The stars did not have time to move, but the radiance was walking at this time :)
I think that "500 rule" works pretty well most of the times :) I tried longer exposures too but then it just turns the whole sky into a green spot :) With stronger Lights, shorter exposures also work good but I don't want to increase the ISO - too much noise, I don't to decrease it either as then - not so many stars :) It's a battle of a balance, hehhe
Yes, finding balance is sometimes very difficult :) You always have to sacrifice something. It can also be difficult to find a place without artificial lighting. Only nature helps :)

I can imagine how it was there, in real life. I have never been able to photograph the Northern Lights in an acceptable quality. Yes, and such a bright thing has never happened.
Thank you! I've seen it twice in my life. That same year, in Norway, in February - it was purely green and much slimmer :) Later, the summer in Iceland - it occupied virtually the whole night sky with almost all the colors from its spectrum. Quite a show indeed :)
