Never thought that my first eyewear experience would become a roller coaster ride.

Earlier in the year 2021, I noticed that there was a change in my vision. I noticed that my view from afar was quite blurry. Not to mention, I never gave so much importance to it as I thought that it's pretty normal as I used to get eyestrain due to too much soaking of my eyes through gadgets. When I get eyestrain, I usually get blurry vision, then my vision will be fine after a day or two of resting my eyes away from gadgets.

Howbeit, I got quite alarmed with my eye condition, just last December 2021 when I notice that my eyes hurt that much even though I rested my eyes for like two days. Nothing has changed especially on my vision. With that, I decided to go to an eye specialist to get my eye check. But due to the hectic schedule, I wasn't able to go to the doctor, instead, I did other stuff just like work and vacation because it's the holidays season. Honestly, I forgot to get my eye checked again because I got used to the blurry vision that I have. Although I find it a hassle sometimes, I got used to it in some way.

Then just this year on the first week of January, I met with my cousins at our grandmother's house, then there I saw my closest cousin. She shared with me about her experience in an eye clinic in the city. She showed me her anti-radiation glasses with the transition. I was astounded by her glasses and decided to get my eyes checked in the same eye clinic. But since I got pretty busy the first week of January, I then forgot about it.

Days went by, and I was still not going to the eye doctor for my eyes. But when I noticed that my eyes hurt than usual, I suddenly book an appointment with the eye specialist that my cousin recommended to me.

My First Eyewear (A Perfect Experience)

I went to the clinic and choose my frame. I was so ecstatic since there were a lot of cute frames to choose from. They're all cute so I can't choose easily what to use as my frame. After almost an hour of fitting and choosing, I finally have chosen one.

After choosing the frame, I then went to the eye doctor. Honestly, I was not happy with how the doctor approached me. He was not as approachable as I expected. He seemed to be in a hurry that I could feel that he didn't care at all about my eye condition. I was disappointed since my cousin told me that it was a nice clinic and you could feel that you were being cared for, but my experience was the total opposite. Even though I was disappointed, I thought of how my frame would go and I was excited that I could finally see again.

I waited for about 4 hours for my glasses. Then finally the clinic texted me that I can get my glasses. I was so excited as I was about to visit the clinic, but as I tried my glasses, I was not happy with the result. As I wear the glasses, I feel like my world turned around. I felt so dizzy. I suddenly went to the doctor and told him about my situation. But he just told me with an irritated voice that I will feel that way especially when it's my first time wearing glasses. With that, I still wear the glasses even if it hurts my eyes. I listened to the doctor that my eyes will still adjust for a few days.

As the days went by, I could feel that my eyes were hurting still, they hurt as much as before. I then asked my co-workers if they felt the same way with their eyewear. But my co-workers told me that they feel so comfortable with their glasses. I felt so sad after hearing them as my glasses didn't feel the same way. Not to mention, when I looked at my glasses, it felt like it was zooming, but I felt dizzy afterward. That's when I decided to go to another eye specialist and have another lens for my glasses.

It's not a perfect experience after all.

Second Try

So I decided to change the lens of my glasses. I don't feel like changing my frame as it's still in a good condition and I don't want to waste it just because I got a not-so-great lens. As I went to the other clinic that my co-worker recommended, I asked if they will change the lens only and I will use the frame that I have first hand. They said, "Yes", however, as they check my frame, they noticed that it was a brand from the other store and they said that they will change the lens, but only if it came from a different brand, and not with the brand that I have.

I felt sad afterward since that clinic provides better lenses than what my co-workers said. It's just that, the brand of my frame was not eligible to be changed in their clinic. As per advice, I will just choose a frame from their store since the prices of their frames were only cheap. Not to mention, I didn't grab the opportunity and look for another clinic that has better lenses and will only change the lens of my glasses.

Third and Final Try

Finally, after a long journey of finding a clinic that only change the lens of my glasses, I found one. The optical was located around 20 minutes from my house. I was so happy that I finally found one, and I'm glad that they can change the lens of my glasses as well.

As the eye specialist checked my eyes, I could feel like she cared for my eye condition. She was so approachable and she checked my eyes thoroughly. She also told me that the lens that was given to me was too high for my grade. Although it turned out that way, I was still grateful that in the end, I found that optical.

Going back, after my eyes get checked, the doctor told me to be back the next day after that to claik my newly made glasses. To be honest, I was scared and excited at the same time. Scared in a way that it might end up being like my previous glasses, and excited in a way that it finally fits my eyes. Now, as I received my eyeglasses the next day, I was s happy as the moment I first wear them, it fits my eyes so nicely. I never felt any dizziness. It's so compatible with my eyes, so pleasing.

With that, I'm so grateful. I'm grateful that I was able to meet an eye specialist that cares for my eye condition. I'm so blessed to finally have an optical center I could run to whenever I need to change my glasses or even lenses. Not to mention, I'm still thankful despite the mishaps that came my way in my first eyewear journey. If the first problem never happened that the first lenses that I have, I might not be able to find a better optical center. If it's not because of my bad experience, I will never be able to find the optical center that I love so much.

"Everything happens for a reason."

If there's a quote that I could relate to my first eyewear experience that would be, "Everything happens for a reason." My first eyewear experience may not be as smooth as it is. I had to go through a lot of problems to be able to end up with the perfect eyewear for me. I have to experience something unpleasant to meet the best eye specialist for me. And if it's not because of that experience, I will never realize that not all optical centers are the same. So, it's still best to choose the perfect place to get our check and will be a solution for our eye needs.

Above all, I'm blessed to finally have the eyewear that fits me. No matter how struggling my experience is, the important thing is I was able to see now. This is the best thing of all.
