The sky was punctuated by a million stars and darkness blanketed the city. The alley was eerie silent, the moon light casting shadows on the walls which seemed to move. She was alone but sensitive to her environment. An emergency had come up at work and she had to work over time. She had reasoned to spend the night there but a call came saying her son had gotten into a fight, it wasn't the first time and she was sure it wouldn't be the last.
She was startled by the bird which flew past her and perched on a nearby tree - an owl. She grabbed at her jacket and quickened her pace. From behind her came a sound of chains being dragged on the ground, she froze as fear gripped her chest in it's iron fists. She spun round to face a person who was cladded in black few feets away from her. Looking from the hooded cloak down to the hand, she noticed that he was brandishing a knife. Adrenaline rushed into her blood streams faster than the blade caught the moonlight, immediately she could feel her legs she turned away from him and she ran, abandoning her bag and groceries to the care of the shadows. She rounded the corner and hit the brakes, the force broke the heel of her shoe which in turn dislocated her ankle, she screamed in pain as her body hit the cold hard ground. Pain shot from her legs to he brain each time she tried to move it. A tear fell from her eyes, rolled down her cheeks, clung to her jaw before yielding to gravity.
She looked up and the person in black was directly above her, a heavy chain in one hand, a knife in the other. She gasped as she saw the face. Recognized it.
"No....." She whispered
A name formed on her lips but before she could give sound to it, air and blood spilled from her windpipe. The knife had been stained red.
Eyes still open, she fell to the ground. Not eager to leave the world, she grasped at throat trying to stop the bleeding but it was like stopping the flow of a river with a piece of rag.
One last breath.......she embraced death.
So this is a cut out piece of a novel I'm currently working on - Hunter's Chrous - and it's taking a lot of time😭😭😭💔.
