Make the vacation more valuable and productive!
School summer vacation in the Philippines should be in the duration of the month between April to May. But, because of the pandemic that we are having the school calendar of the Philippines had change drastically. Most of the school in the Philippines had now same school calendar. And most of the school now become octoberian classes. Which means, most of the school are starting their classes in the month of October and will gonna end in the late month of July or early August. This school calendar include the school I am attending, which is the Taguig City University.
Because today is the month of August that means right now, I am actually having a school break for a month. It means I will have a break from those headaches, assignments and homeworks that need to comply, reports that need to prepare, and a stresses I need to endure. I am now having my free time, just laying in my bed for the whole days. This is the thing I should be doing and what I wanted to do for my whole life, well I should be earning a lot of money in order to do all this. But what I wanted to be is to become a lazy rich man.
I am now feeling my freedom and free time. but then I do not know, a call from an unknown number was been made to me yesterday. When I answered the call, it ask if that is my identity and I'm shock that she knows my name. I then found out that the call was made from the PESO, because last month me and mahh badii applied for SPES. I don't know what comes to my mind in applying to SPES, but I can not back out now. I am already applied, and that after the call and short identification of myself. I get a text message from the same number saying that I should go to the designated area for an orientation. I immediately call mahh badii and she also get the same call and text messages as I am. We now didn't let the opportunity to go away.
The Special Program for Employment of Students or SPES for short is a employment bridging program that aims to help students to apply in a job for a short 20 days duration in summer time. With the minimum wage it will gave, the employed SPES student will gonna have more money allowance to help them for the next school year. SPES right now even employed those who are in Out of School Youth(OSY) so that those students that is not studying will be on track of studying in next school year.
That is for a short background about which is also I learned from the Orientation yesterday. Well going back. The given call time for orientation is at 1:00 pm but because I am time conscious, me and mahh badii reach the destination an hour before the call time. We have nothing to do in the area just sitting, because we have an hour before the program start, we first fill up the attendance sheet and then we go around in the mall. We didn't do much at mall, we just walk around and talk and sight seeing because that is the first time we went to that mall.
After 30-40 minutes of walking we then decided to go back to the area so that we could prepare ourselves. The speakers are coming one by one. There's a government officials in there, one is a DOLE employee, and a SPES spoke person. It is just a normal orientation that we had. They're teaching us what SPES is, the advantages of it, how we could get the payment after working, the do's and don's what kind of job we will have and lots of different stuffs. After that, they congratulate us for being employed in SPES, and then we are a dismissed. We are planning to head straight home, but because it is too hot, we decided to stop in a food trail. We just eat and talk and let the time and sun passes. After that we went home.

My school summer vacation plan has been destroyed I can't lay in my bed the whole day but that's okay. I'll gonna make it more productive as I need to. I think our work will gonna start on next Monday that's why I am preparing myself for it. Half of the students don't take a break because the university requires that you work in an office for one month to get validation to pass from one year to another and also you will be asked about what you did do this month. Like we call intership.
