In my almost 2-year experience of writing, one thing that I learned is to interact and build camaraderie in the community. This is what I did — and what I am doing — every time I join in another online community. It is effective, really. Reading their content and leaving a genuine comment will make them do the same on your profile page (not all the time, but there's a chance).
