Did you ever went on the Philippines? If yes, maybe you already knew what I am saying on the title "Colorful parade that you need to see".
I know that many Filipinos are using this platform and I think we should be proud on our culture.
"Stand up and raise our race, Filipinos! Mabuhay!"
Alright so I know that there's a country who didn't celebrating this kind of culture and tradition but you can still continue reading this if you're interested and if you want to know more about Filipinos.
We have a famous line that you can always hear on every Filipinos and some of the tourists who visited our country and that is "It's more fun in the Philippines". In Philippines, we are celebrating different festivals on every province, community or place. Each place has a different and unique kind of festival depends on their traditions and beliefs. The common reason of celebrating festival is expressing our gratitude in our Patron Saint.
But since there's a pandemic, we're not able to celebrate some of this festival because we are afraid to the virus and also to obey the safety protocols. The purpose of this article is to show you these festivals without going on our country. So if you want to explore the Philippines, Let's go!
FESTIVALS ON THE PHILIPPINES THAT YOU SHOULD SEE!
1. Ati-atihan Festival
Filipinos are celebrating this kind of festival specifically the people who lives in the province of Kalibo, Aklan to give an honor on our Santo Niño. This is held on every third Sunday of January.
•January 10-19
•Ati-atihan means "to be like an Atis" (Atis or Aetas)
2. Dinagyang Festival
This kind of festival is celebrated in Iloilo Philippines every January 24-26. Like Ati-atihan Festival, it is celebrated to give an honor on the Santo Niño. It shows the country's heritage, history and the spiritual characteristics of the Ilonggo people. The tribes are performing a street dance. Also, they are doing the procession followed by the colorful parade.
3. Sinulog Festival
Thid festival is celebrated to give an honor to our Santo Niño held on one of the cities in the Philippines which is Cebu City. It's marked is having a long parade with a colorful costumes with a beautiful and gorgeous participants. It is also shows the cultural events and their history.
•Sinulog means "like the water current"
•Many tourists go in the Philippines because of this Festival since this is one of the most beautiful Festival on our country because of its colorful decorations.

4. Panagbenga Festival
Are you a person who loves flower? Then you should go here and celebrate Panagbenga Festival together with the people in Baguio! This festival is also known as "The Fest of Blooming Flowers" this festival shows different type of costumes and designs that made on flowers. Even boats are also designed by flowers. It includes parade, trade fairs, and float parade.
•Panagbenga means Season of blooming or the time of flowering (Kanakey term)
•Celebrated from February until the first Sunday of March.
•It started on the year 90's after the Luzon's earthquake.
5. Moriones Festival
If you want to experience a holy festival then you should go on Marinduque (Province on the Philippines) and celebrate Moriones Festival with your family. The people will wear a M-shaped masks made by wooden creations so you'll look like a Roman Soldier. This festival is a tribute to Longinus who pierced the spear on Jesus' ribs. The people also dressed like a soldier and the crucifixion can be witnesses by all.
•This is held every holy week (usually in summer, April 5 to 12)
6. Bangus Festival
This is held on Dagupan City every April 1-April 12. This is celebrated to express their gratitude on a prosperous harvest of the bangus (it is a tagalog term for milkfish). They are celebrating it by street parades and cooking different cuisine that the main ingredient is bangus. There's also a folk dance performed by different participants and sometimes they are wearing a bangus costumes and having a party.
•Dagupan City won a Guinnessworld record in the year 2003 for the organization of longest bangus barbeque.
7. Pahiyas Festival
This is held on Lucban, Quezon every 15th of May each year. It is celebrated to give an admiration on their beloved patron San Isidro Labrador for a prosperous harvest. Their houses is decorated with different kind of vegetables, fruits, kip and any other products that they have especially the plants. Sometimes, they have a contest where the judges will choose the house that there's a beautiful and amazing design.
•There's also a giant mascot called Higantes that will join on the parade.
8. Tuna festival
Maybe most of us are familiar with this very delicious kind of fish, Tuna. This is celebrated on General Santos City that also known as "Tuna Capital" because they are one of the cities who produce a large amount of Tuna and they are also exporting tuna in each corner of the country/world. This festival is the best for those people who loves to eat and explore Tuna.
•They also have "Parada sa Dagat" in English is "Parade on the sea". Float parade and different contests are conducted on their province like dragon boat race, skimboarding and free runs.
9. Maskara Festival
If you want a positivity and a happy festival, then you should go on Bacolod City or also known as "City of Smiles". Maybe you are confused why are they called City of smiles, the reason behind this is because of their famous festival which is Maskara Festival. On this, people are wearing a smiling mask with different and colorful designs. Their highlight is the colorful costumes with a creative designs accompanied by street dance.
•This is held every 26th day of the Month of October.
10. Higantes Festival
This is one of the most interesting festivals in the Philippines since you'll see a giant mascot or effigies everywhere with a creative and amazing designs. They are celebrating this to give an admiration on their patron San Clemente, the supporter saint of the fishermen on the community. The people also holding the statue of San Clemente on the parade along with the Higantes or giant mascots.
•The parade is held every third Saturday of November.
