You can't believe in ghosts or supernatural spirits. But it must be admitted that there are many mysteries in the world that are difficult to reasonably explain. Some of these strange mysteries are centered around an ancient bot tree in the village of Charoti Kheri in Fatehgarh Saheb district of Punjab. The locals believe that as soon as one of the roots of this tree is cut, the one who is cutting that root will have to fall down in a few days.
There are settlements and agricultural lands around this bot tree. And like the five bot trees, the roots of this tree also spread through the soil to the surrounding lands as soon as they get a chance. In many cases, the roots of the tree also attack the surrounding agricultural lands. If there are thick roots of bot tree in the soil, cultivation is difficult. As a result, it is necessary to cut off the roots. But the farmers of Charoti Kheri do not forget to cut the roots of this tree, no matter how difficult it is in their farming. If necessary, they stopped cultivating the land and left. But they will not cut the roots of the tree. Because the local belief is that whoever cuts a root of this bot tree, within a few days of cutting the roots, will die on his own, or someone close to him.
The villagers believe that this bot tree is at least 500 years old, and that it has miraculous powers. Anil Chauhan, an elderly man from the village, said, "I have seen many people in my life who died within a few days of cutting the roots of the tree. We remember the death of a farmer named Gurpreet in our youth. Within seven days, he died of cholera. Decades ago, a young man named Balwinder dared to cut a root of a bot tree in an attempt to disprove the popular belief. He does not dare to cut. And there is no question of cutting the tree. "
Gurpreet Mann, an official of the Punjab Customs Office, however, is reluctant to accept these miraculous theories. He said: "The tree was examined by the customs officials. It is a very common bot tree. The deaths after cutting the roots of the tree are a coincidence. Even if the roots of the tree were not cut, they would die. In each case, there is an obvious cause of death. It's old, but it's not 500 years old at all. The tree will be about a hundred years old. It's not that old for a bot tree. "
To the inhabitants of Charoti Khedi, however, the tree is not only a source of fear, but also a source of reverence. Because they believe that this tree is the abode of the tree god. So if you want something from the mind, this tree fulfills that desire. Worship is centered on the tree. Moreover, there is an ancient Shiva temple near the tree. The spiritual greatness of this tree has increased among the local Hindus as well as the Sikhs. All in all, the ancient banyan tree of Charoti Khedi is standing with jatajuto, covered with a veil of fear and devotion.
