As we all know, in every gathering, there's bound to be a Judas, one who betrays that gathering and causes it to scatter. Uptrennd is no different and the Judases we have here are the spammers. Yes, they are Judases. That's because they would rather sell away the longevity and progress of the platform for thirty pieces of silver, or should I say 1up? Lol.
On more serious note now, it is the fact that the platform is infested with spammers, although they have been greatly reduced in numbers over the months, thanks to the halvening and the recently implemented Citizenship. However, they are not totally extinct on the platform. Here and there, you still stumble upon an irrelevant post or comment. Why do you think they are still around? Who is to blame?
Of a truth, spammers are still holding sway on the platform because we let them and we are the ones to blame. You might be wondering why again.
Well, you see, most times, we become too lenient and indifferent when we see a spam comment or post and just ignore it without a downvote. This does not help Uptrennd.
Spammers don't share the same ideals as you. They are not interested in the progress of Uptrennd. They just want to suck the platform dry by making quick money.
Spammers are enemies of quality content creators. They downvote indiscriminately to prove that they are nothing but jejune bullies.
Spammers won't help you become a better writer because they have nothing to offer you with their generic posts and comments.
Spammers get to reap bountifully when they have not sown honestly. By so doing, they weaken the value of 1up.
The platform is a system that is solely dedicated to encouraging and rewarding originality and quality. As such, there's absolutely no place for substandard quality and nonsense of any sort. When a quality content creator makes a nice post or comment, you read and upvote to support him/her because it is the right thing to do. Of course, it is.
But do you think it is the right thing to ignore someone who makes meaningless posts and comments? Definitely not!!!
If you find that your home is infested with mice and you do nothing about them, what happens? They multiply and destroy more of your property and food. The same way, Spammers become empowered when you ignore them.
So, when next you come across spam posts or comments, downvote them! And also encourage them to turn a new leaf and work harder!
