10. wolf dogs

Source

Starting us off is this scary wolf dog in the peaceful location of Westmoreland County Pennsylvania. Sandra Piovesan was the ultimate dog lover owning nine wolf dogs since they were pups. It was just a normal day for her when she entered the enclosure that she kept them in, and they attacked her.

She was later found dead at her home with an autopsy revealing the cause of death was multiple soft tissue injuries. This is even more terrifying when you realize that there are thousands of wolf dogs kept as pets across the world. However, John Davis who was vice president of the American wolf dog association at the time, said that attacks were extremely rare.

Could this attack have been prevented? Perhaps. The police were called out numerous times for this house due to complaints about noise and odours from the dog. Humane officer Elaine Gower knew that something wasn't right but as Sandra was on guard during every visit the true extent of the danger wasn't revealed.

9. Humphrey the Hippo

Source

Humphrey the Hippo sounds like this could be an innocent cartoon character. Unfortunately, that’s wrong. Hippos are known to be one of the most dangerous creatures on the planet and they're responsible for more deaths than Elephants, Leopards, and buffaloes combined.

Owner Marius Ellis who was a South African farmer and army major repeatedly ignored warnings that his pet hippo was dangerous believing that they had a special relationship. Elis had adopted Humphrey from his old owner at five months old. After he grew too big ellis believed that he had a special relationship with the animal often swimming with it in the river and riding on its back. However, there were warning signs. He was known to escape from his enclosure and kill local animals but Ellis kept the 1.3 ton ahippopotamus around.

Unfortunately, Marius Ellis discovered exactly how dangerous the hippo was when it was too late. The former army major was found in the river near his home having been bitten to death by his beloved hippo. Humphrey the Hippo

8. A Tiger

Source

Minnesota woman Cynthia Lee Gamble had lots of experience as a tiger handler keeping them for over 10 years.

In 2006, her friend went to visit her and found her remains in one of the tiger Enclosures where one of her bengal tigers had attacked and killed her. The doors to the enclosure were left open and the tiger had attacked her without warning, leaving her without the means to defend herself. This was a shock to the whole community as Gamble knew how to look after big cat, with her trained animals being seen on the today show and in movies.

The most heart-breaking thing about this- Gamble left behind her 14-year-old son. We can't imagine how difficult this must have been for him.

7. Monitor lizards

Source

Delaware resident Ronald Hoff didn't show up for work one day which was pretty unusual for him so the police were called to perform a welfare check. When the police arrived, they could not have predicted what they saw.bHuff was found against the door with his seven six-foot long lizards climbing over his body, eating parts of it.

While his cause of death was left unexplained, it is believed that Huff was feeling unwell due to a staph infection so he sat down. Huff may then have passed out which is when the venomous lizards took advantage of the situation. The reptiles were covered in blood and had eaten parts of his face, hands, and organs. Eaten by Monitor Lizards

6. Cat

Source

While these little kittens didn't attack their owners and devour them to death, they certainly had no problem eating the flesh of their owners once they had died.

Herbert Walden, a 74 year old former teacher and his mother Jane who was 94 years old were found dead in their home. It is believed that herbert died from a heart attack as this was what the autopsy uncovered, and then his mother passed away due to dehydration as he was no longer there to care for her.

Their house was a health hazard with no working toilet, no running water, and large piles of garbage. Authorities found four dead cats, a dead dog, and 12 cats who were still alive and desperate for food. The cats had begun to eat the feet of their owners as they had no other choice.

5. Pigs

Source

69 year old farmer Terry Vance was going about his daily business when he went outside to feed his prized pigs which weighed over 700 pounds each. His family became concerned when he didn't return for a while and went out to look for him.

Shockingly, inside the pig pen they found many of his body parts along with his dentures. The question soon arose of what actually killed him. Was it the pigs themselves or did he have a heart attack and dropped dead leaving the pigs more to eat than they expected?

Some believe that the pigs deliberately knocked him over as they had shown aggression before. But as there were no eyewitnesses it remains a mystery to this day. Oregon farmer eaten by super sized Pigs

4. Teddy the black Bear

Source

Teddy the Bear was kept alongside a mountain Lion and a atiger by an exotic pet dealer in Pennsylvania.

The dealer's wife Kelly Ann Waltz frequently cleaned the cage of the bear distpacting him with food for long enough to clean up his mess.

On one fateful day in 2009 however, the bear attacked her while her children watched from outside of the enclosure. The children ran for help but unfortunately it was too late. The bear was shot dead but Kelly Ann had already lost her life. It just goes to show that wild animals shouldn't be kept in cages. Killed by pet bear

3. Bugs, Spiders and lizards

Source

Neighbors in a german apartment block noticed a terrible smell coming from a man's apartment so they called the police. When the police arrived, they found the body of Mark Voegel which had been chewed by the many animals that were living in the apartment- reptiles, Spiders and Bugs.

The apartment was crawling with a multitude of creatures. It is believed that he was killed by a bite from his black widow spider, pieces of Voegel's skin had been torn off and eaten by the lizards, and his vody was left decomposing. Consumed by reptiles

2. A python

Source

In 2018, the indonesian police reported that a 54 year old woman was found inside of a python's body having been swallowed whole. She had gone missing a few days earlier and the day after she disappeared local villagers found the python who looked rather swollen.

The python stomach was slit open to find the woman dead but entirely intact. Who knows how long she survived after she was swallowed. Woman swallowed by giant python

1. Travis the Chimp

Source

The Chimpanzee's owner's friend Charlotte Nash was attacked by the chimp who was an animal actor who was used to being around people. His owner Sandra Herold needed help as she had managed to escape so her friend Charla came over.

Charla had changed her hairstyle and Travis had not seen her since so it is believed that he was confused. The chimpanzee began biting Charla's face and hands and was extremely aggressive. Sandra hit him with a shovel to try and get him off. However, that didn't work so she called the police. The medical staff could not help Charla at first as they risked being attacked so they had to wait until the police shot and killed the monkey.

Charla is the only person in this countdown to have survived the ordeal.

She was left with enormous medical bills and had to get a face transplant. She ended up suing sandra Harold for around 50 million dollars. Travis the Chimp

Wow! I really enjoyed reading all to the end. This is so scary and I wonder how would humans keep them as pets when they should be locked up in the zoo even if they had to take care of them. This is so sad though.

Some humans believe they're good at trainers while forgetting that wild animals can not be trained.. they will always want meat.

I could believe everything except the Hippo 🦛, I didn't know it can eat meat especially his owner. I was also considering them the innocent animals. I really appreciate your efforts for collecting such nice and informative stuffs

Wow dear Kristoffer, your article was very interesting and shocking at the same time. Reading each of them shocked me. Especially the fact that insect owners are eaten by them, because I hate insects. 😖

I have heard the very popular story about Travis the chimp. The before and after pictures of it's victim was really horrifying. Thought chimps could not harm humans since we were cousins

Cousin whatt?? I'm no cousin to a Chimps.. hahaha.. Scientists say so but I disagree.

Lol. They also said over ninety percent of our DNA are alike.. since you are more inclined to science than religion, I thought you would have readily agreed😁

Wow, this is insane! Wild animals should be kept in their place for the do not really understand human nature and her born that way of being wild. Sad story for Marius Ellis.

They got to learn their lesson when it was too late.. sorry for them..

I was surprised by some but not with the wild ones.

Yeah... It's surprising that domestic animals will attack their owners.. It's totally unexpected.

That is the reason why wild animals should stay in the wild. There is no way that wild animals can be tamed.

$ 0.01

It's unfortunate that these people learned their lesson the hard way..

$ 0.00

They should know it better. That's why they are classified as wild animals because they're not like the other animals that can be easily tamed.

The Humphrey the Hippo looks like something that don't attack, never knew it is that wild. We just have to stop keeping the wild animals. Previously, i had the intention of keeping bull dogs, but as it stands, i won't keep them. I can't let animal come and kill me.

Hippos will always be wild no matter how much they're trained. You can't rewire their brains, you can only tame them for so long before they snap.

That monitor lizard is scary! I cannot even look at a tiny lizard. Though looks scary, we should still be kind to animals.

Kind to animals? even when they wouldn't be kind to us.. Nah... I pass.

I'm still trying to understand why humans will attempt to make friends with wild animals. It's just weird,.

This is particularly disturbing. I wouldn't as much as keep wild animals as pets cos that's what they are, Wild! They live in THE WILD! Sighs*

You know as Africans we are culturally trying to not die. Staying alive is part of our culture. Unfortunately, the peeps from other cultures are different- always putting themselves in danger and daring death..

Aww this is so horrible now I'm terrified to have a pet

You don't have to be scared. You just have to choose your pets wisely so you wouldn't fall victim like those mentioned above.

Oh my! This is horrible kristoff. This is so scary. The Python give me a full fears. It's really scary. The woman found inside the Python. It likes a movie and also the wolf dogs too. I don't know what's happened with the dogs why they attacked their owner. 😰

$ 0.01

I don't understand why snakes should even be allowed to exist.. I hate them so much.. Those wolves probably have been planning within them.. and the perfect opportunity came to devour their owner.

When you see so many unfortunate events, the first idea is that these animals are, after all, WILD ANIMALS and their instinct is, primarily, to eat, hunt and defend themselves.

$ 0.01
2 years ago

People are never willing to learn... they think they can control everything and that's where the initial problem comes from.

$ 0.00
2 years ago

It begs the question: Why keep wild animals at home? Their home is the wilderness and no one has cancelled the natural instincts and predator instincts. On the one hand, we pity these people, but on the other hand, they are to blame.

$ 0.01
2 years ago

The major problem with humans is that we think we can control everything and bend things to our will. They're called wild animals for a reason. We wouldn't blame those animals that attacked since they're simply acting based on their natural instincts. There's a reason they are out in the wild and I'd suggest they remain that way.
