Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong says their current token evaluation process is unsustainable due to the creation of roughly one million new tokens every week. He argues that individually evaluating each token is no longer feasible, nor can regulators keep up with approving them. Armstrong proposes switching from an "allow list" (approving each token) to a "block list" (excluding problematic tokens) and using customer reviews and on-chain data to help users navigate the market. He also mentioned deeper integration of decentralized exchanges (DEXs) into Coinbase. This call for change comes amid evolving U.S. crypto regulations, including a recent executive order and increased regulatory focus by the SEC and CFTC.
