How do you feel when something you hoped on turns out to be a disappointment? Exactly what do you do at that point?

It's hard to tell because it does depend on what it is. In most cases, I have several scenarios for the "what if". I am very realistic and if A doesn't work out there are Bs Cs and way more options.
For example, I hoped my car would pass the annual test. I invested money in it but hear that sound... I could drive it 1800 km and it all worked out fine. I gave it to my daughter but it still needs its test. If it doesn't pass she can drive till August 2nd and sell it after that date. If it (the sound or?) can be fixed for a price I can afford I do that for her. Why? The car I bought was cheaper as I saved for and I most likely cannot buy a car for the amount the repairs will cost me (and I know what is repaired with this car). Different scenarios help me/us to deal with " disappointments".
