I should just drop this one here, its been in my heart for a while.
I know somewhere in our hearts and lives, we're looking forward to getting married, and some of us are already married; making the decision of leaving and cleaving for the rest of lives. We are also planning on meeting the prince charming we deserve and having an awesome marriage and building strong families.
I know some of us are directly or indirectly preparing for this decision we will be making, we are reading a lot of relationship books, love, sex, making a marriage work, finding him/her etc.
Please in addition to your preparation and reading, read about how to be a parent, I think somehow, this one is forgotten. We think of being prayerful and lovey-dovey wives we forget about learning about parenting.
Parenting is a course work of its own, in fact if we agree marriage is an institution, parenting is a course we will all have to take and this is where a lot of people miss and fail it. As God is trusting us with the destinies of people to nurture and care for them, we shouldn't fail him, we should expand our knowledge on good parenting skills and trust Him with our children and their hearts.
How to raise teenage boys and girls, how to understand these sets of people and how to let God's love flow from us to them, and how to raise them generally is something we need to trust God for and be intentional about.
Due to the dynamic nature of our society; technological advancement and all of those, parenting has gone past the stage of just caring for your child. It is a lot more demanding than it used to be. One has to be fully prepared and well equipped in order to make the journey.
You also have to expect the good, the bad and even the ugly. Not all kids are the same. Some might not stress you while some may be a pin in the ass.
I don't know why this has become a passion for me but I think it's something we all have to learn, maybe not for you but the next teenager or child you meet. It's my honest prayers that will build families that will bring forth the next generation of people that will impact lives in the society.
Nice article
