Cats are fascinating creatures. While some people may think that all cats do is lie around and nap, they can be incredibly active and playful animals. One of the things that cat owners may notice is that their cats like to put their toys in their food bowls. But why do cats do this? Well, there are a few reasons.

In this blog post, we will explore why cats put their toys in their food bowls and what pet owners can do to discourage the behaviour.

Why do cats put their toys in their food bowl?

One of the possible explanation for this behaviour is that cats are naturally playful creatures and like to engage in various activities. So when, they see their toys sitting in their food bowls, they may see it as an opportunity to have some fun. Another reason could be that cats do not want to lose track of their toys, so they put them in place that is easy to find.

There are few different reasons why cats may pit their toys in their food bowls.

  • One of the reason is that they enjoy playing with these objects, and using them as toys provides them with an additional source of stimulation.

  • Another possible explanation is that they are trying to hide their toys from other animals or people who might be in area.

  • A third reason may be that cats want to keep their toys close by, and putting them in the food bowl ensures they will not get lost or misplaced.

Here are the few tips to stop cats from putting their toys in their food.

  1. Give your car plenty of stimulation. Toys and playtime are great ways to keep cats active and engaged, which can help prevent them from from getting bored and resorting to behaviours like placing toys in their bowls.

  1. Set aside specific times each day for your cat to play with their toys. Cats are creatures of habit and may become attached to certain times of day or activities, so try to stick to the same routine each day consistently. Provide your cat with various interesting items to chew in and play with around the house. It can include scratching posts, cat trees, and puzzle feeders that help keep your cat's entertained and engaged.

  2. Consider adding catnip to your cat's toys. Many cats are attracted to the smell of this herb, which can help keep them interested in their toys for extended time periods and prevent them from getting bored with the same old playthings.

By following these tips, you can help keep your cat from putting their toys in their food and help them get the stimulation and playtime they need. And with a happier, more active car on your hands, you are sure to have plenty of fun and entertainment.

Cats putting toys in their food bowls include:

Injury or staining of their neck or limbs when they are trying to reach the toy inside their food bowl.

Stress or anxiety from seeing frustrated and unable to get the toy. Possible ingestion of toys, which can lead to vomiting or other digestive issues.

There are some kinds of toys that cats mostly like:

  1. Balls-cats love to chase and bat at balls.

  2. Feathered toys: these stimulate a cats haunting instincts.

  3. Catnip-filled toys: Cats love the scent of catnip, which makes them want to play.

  4. Crinky toys: the sound of crinkling plastic or paper excites a cat's senses.

  5. Interactive toys: things like puzzle feeders or laser pointers give cats mental stimulation.

  6. Stuffed animals- these can provide comfort for cats and give them something to cuddle with.

  7. Anything small and shiny- cats are naturally curious creatures, and shiny objects capture their attention.

  8. Homemade toys- things like toilet paper rolls or string can provide hours of entertainment for a curious cat.

  9. Familiar scents- cats have a strong sense of smell and may be drawn to toys that have been rubbed on their owners or other familiar scents.

  10. Things that made noise- things like squeaky toys or jingly bells can also capture a cat's attention and spark it's desire to play.

Do they really? I don't own a cat or have observed them that long but that is interesting if they do.

I love to cats especially Persian ones. They are no doubt naughty in their activities but I love to their behavior as you mentioned.
