Ahhh, don’t you just love a relaxing Sunday? 😌 Times like this just makes me want to go to the beach and read a good story. This reminds me of that time we visited Kualoa Park in the state of Hawaii. I personally took this photo of Mokoli’i islet, which is commonly known as Chinaman’s hat. It is only called that because of its resemblance to the shape of the Asian conical hat but the story of its legend has nothing to do with hats at all. Mokoli’i is actually the Hawaiian term for “little lizard” and legend has it that this islet is the remains of the tail of a giant lizard. It was cut off by the goddess Hi’iaka and thrown into the ocean. I heard this story from a local guide and I never thought of asking why the goddess cut the lizard’s tail. Would you happen to know the reason?
