I almost cut my hair for $4

Let me share with you all the experience I had when looking for a Barbing salon. It's an encounter that I don't forget in a hurry because it was so unbelievable and looked like a comedy skit.

The very first day I landed at my current resident, I was a full blown novice because of the way my boss and his family (the family I stayed with) were giving me a typical "township" lifestyle. You need to see the way they lock doors every now and then, staying indoors became my new lifestyle except whenever it's time for us to go to work. Although it was all fine because there was food and light but the petting was just too much, I wasn't allowed to go out as if I'm a baby, I don't know who told them that someone like me is 'kidnappable'🤗

First weekend came and I decided to stroll out to locate a barbing salon to have a haircut. I took permission from the wife that I was going out to have a haircut and requested that she direct me to a nearby one. She tried to figure out if there's a nearby one but she couldn't identify any, all the ones she was pointing at were very far from the house.

Because she couldn't figure out a nearby salon, she offered to carry me on her bike to locate one and I refused. This is another pamper again! I'm not a baby oo! I decided to find my way myself.

I came out to the entrance of the street, I don't know whether to follow right or left. I decided to use 'nature' to choose which direction to go. I told nature to direct my way with;

The direction of the next beautiful lady that would pass, if she goes right, then so be it.

God is not asleep na, immediately I made the request, a very beautiful Melanie lady passed on bike towards left and I didn't hesitate to move. Ahead! ahead!🤣

I followed my left and began to trekk, I trekked and trekked and I was not seeing any Barbing salon. I became so frustrated on how a developed town as big as this, only has common Barbing salon at the main busy spots. Very bad💔

I got angry and decided to trek back, maybe the lady's direction I followed was a bad luck. I trekked back to the 'right' I earlier rejected.

Fortunately for me, I saw a barbing salon. The building's frontage was well designed and decorated with a big fancy speaker outside giving good naija jamz. The entrance was covered with a transparent glass so I could see inside. I checked and I was surprised not to see any customer inside. " A fine place like this should be busy" I pondered.

I was happy because finally I saw a salon after wasting 1hr trying to locate one. I entered and I got marveled at the decorations therein. What came to my mind quickly was "hope this is not a VIP salon?"

The attendant came and was ready to cut my hair, as a sharp guy that didn't want to f*ck up, I decided to ask him how much is hair cut and he said it's just $4(N2,000 at that period). I just told him to hold on, removed the apron myself and left without uttering a word.

If I were to haggle the price, where do I start from? I had just $0.25(N200) to cut my hair. Just look at the difference!

When I was leaving, the man was calling me back but I never turned back.

Thanks goodness that I asked first if not I would have been in a mess that day.

I strolled back home, madam wasn't surprised when she saw my hair uncut she asked whether I didn't see any salon and I told her my experience, she laughed loud at me and told me that she knew the salon and it's a VIP salon that's why she didn't directed me there when I asked.

I don't know about your country, but in my country, we cut hair cheaply with less than $1 unless it's a VIP treat.

The people that patronizes these sets of salon are the celebrities and politicians.
