Love can be cold

The weather today is so cold, it’s finally harmattan season here in Lagos. There is haze in the atmosphere, the air is cool and the breeze is freezing, in fact I might have catarrh but hey I am thankful for another day in life. God is great and his grace is forever.
My dad says that this harmattan is a sign of incoming blessing that as the weather is cold and dry it just means that it is time for new crops to sprout and begin new life after the old ones might have dried up or something of that sort.I believe him and I am sure you do too 😂 hehe .. let’s just keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
Do you ever listen to some older people tell you about their love story and go “they don’t make love like that anymore”. Well I do all the time, I don’t know what it is exactly, especially in this Generation. Nothing is real and nothing is what it seem.
It is almost like this generation is scared of committing to one person. The average adult in Lagos Nigeria is probably seeing 3 to 4 different people on a daily basis ( male and female included).
Like I always say I am not one to judge people on the way they choose to live their life because nobody is perfect including me, so if I am writing about this right now it is only an extension of my thoughts at this particular time. Love can be really cold so please just follow this true story…
I once heard a love story .. okay maybe not a love story .. of a guy who really liked a girl in his class. He wasn’t very popular with the ladies at the time and some even called him a nerd.
He liked this particular girl because they were from the same poor neighborhood, they had known each other from childhood and she was really pretty. She was the only one that spoke to him as other students in his class were in the rich and middle class kids, as such they didn’t give him their time of the day.
Everything was going smoothly for him until the most popular boy at school started asking the girl the only girl he liked out. Things changed quickly she switched up on him and started acting strange. Soon enough they stoped talking. He was hurt by it but what could he do?. He stood no chance against a boy like that at school.
He was an anti-social kid true, but he was really smart. So one day he helped the hottest girl at school during a math test after which they became friends. They started to hang out together and soon enough the once weird and nerdy boy was now popular amongst his classmates. He still liked the other girl thou.
The most popular boy in school then had a bet with his gang of friends and they decided that they wanted to make the nerdy boy return to his status-quo. To them things aren’t suppose to be this way. So they set him up using the girl he like. They told her to lie that he asked her out and she refused then he started harassing her. They promised her that if she pulled this off they would make sure she is the most popular girl at school and they would also make her rich.
After a while she decided that she was going to sacrifice the friendship they had knowing fully well that the nerdy boy likes her a lot.
The news spread like wild fire and even escalated more than it was expected to. As a result he was expelled and nobody agreed to talk to him. He couldn’t do much against her because more than being in disbelief of what she has done to him, he still loved her.
His family eventually moved to another area and another school where he started life again. He knew he was innocent of all charges but he also knew if the truth came out it would destroy the one he loves. So moved on from her and slowly the feeling for her died some years later.
This is a true life story, not all “love stories” end happily ever after but what can we do as human beings. In the hands of love we are powerless. We are weak, we are naturally creatures ruled by our hearts and not our heads. Love can be sweet, delicate even delicious but love can sting like a bee, love can hurt, love can be cold.
