Philippines: Batad Rice Terraces, Banaue
It's the ideal spot for seeing the Ifugao rice terraces, which are a UNESCO world heritage site, but getting there isn't simple!
What you can't afford to overlook: • Hike to Patpat Sitio and be awestruck by the breathtaking views. You'll go across a suspended bridge, hike up the rice terraces, stop by a tiny woodland with small waterfalls and springs, and get the best view of the rice terraces. • Take a swim at Tappiya Falls, a stunning 70-meter waterfall about 30 minutes from Batad.
How to reach there is as follows: For 500 PHP (£8), take a 9-hour overnight bus to Banaue. Make your reservation at least a week ahead of time! After arriving in Banaue, ride a tricycle to the end of the paved road and hike to Batad.
