Buy a new laptop for BCH. Expense or investment?

A laptop for work or entertaining?

My laptop is a fantastic piece of technology designed by Apple and introduced to the public in mid-2011. A MacBook Air13 with 4GB of RAM, a powerful second-generation I5, and 256GB of flash disk mistakenly called solid.

I bought it on credit, and its price was $ 1,600. I guess after 18 installments. I ended up paying almost double. An investment of which I have no complaints. I still work on it daily.

One of my distinctive characteristics is to be very careful with the Gadgets that I acquire. Although I live in a so-called third-world country, I always enjoyed being at the forefront of technology.

If you could inspect my MacBook Air in its box, you would say; it looks physically new despite ten years of operation.

However, I am aware that current products meet a planned obsolescence design or life cycle. So my trusty MacBook Air will be no exception.

Currently, smartphones are in fashion; I dare say that some of these wonders are more powerful than my laptop. Many people prefer to work on a smartphone, but I feel even more comfortable tapping on the backlit keyboard on my computer.

I learned a long time ago that it is impossible to be permanently on top of the technological wave. You have not finished paying for the product when the manufacturers launch another, more beautiful, faster, and more powerful one.

In addition, I have the impression that one is becoming more dependent on the intuitive options of the machines, staying at the expense of the utilities or the increasingly invasive artificial intelligence.

In any case, I am studying to acquire a new laptop. Well, I'll be honest with you, I've been considering the idea for several months. My MacBook is still fighting, but I know I need to replace it.

As a writing hobbyist, it probably doesn't require a lot of computing power. Although, I did do graphic and audio editing and design work on occasion and experienced the exasperation of my laptop nearly collapsing in the attempt. I will purchase another and maintain the MacBook Air to use as a backup.

This time around, I can't afford to replace it with another next-gen MacBook. The goal is to buy a used or refurbished one from the manufacturer for a reasonable price.

I am seriously considering installing an open-source operating system on the laptop or desktop station you purchase. Some distribution's Linux, while re-learning the basics of the Unix-based operating system.

You will wonder why to complicate; it's easier to buy a new one with Windows 10 or Mac OS and all the programs you need. I understand that a used computer can be a surprise box, and learning an operating system that grants you the privileges to modify it is a risk if you make mistakes in programming.

You are partly right! I remember an intellectual who once said: "I am me and my circumstances." So the current circumstances make me frugal based on the activity that I develop. It would be a waste to buy a Lambo to drive on a dirt road. An experienced pilot gets the most out of the engine, especially when the race is against him.

I also believe that regaining control over the operations he performs with a computer frees you from the comforts of closed and intrusive systems. Sure, freedom requires knowledge and responsibility. At my age, it is an excellent intellectual exercise to maintain my mental health.

Final thoughts

In conclusion, I would settle for a computer, laptop, or desktop, with a sixth-generation I5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and 500 GB of a flash disk that does not exceed my budget of $ 350.

Common sense dictates that I wait, keep saving on Bitcoin Cash, and investing my time promoting it. Soon BCH will reach the Moon.

Although for me, the laptop is a work tool. I do not deny that I also enjoy using it. So work and entertainment go hand in hand.

In the meantime, I hope my old but faithful MacBook Air continues to fight back in promoting Bitcoin Cash.

Well ,For the Personal use i would say Mac book is a great laptop but i think for a working tool like i am studying about software engineering so i had a mac book before , My administration suggested me to install some apps but unfortunately those app did no meet the requirement of mac book , means they didn’t support ios, So i have to sell the Mac book and bought a Hp Computer. So I suggest you if you are buying for a office work then don’t buy Mac book cuz in Macbook many applications are paid. That was my opinion.

Thanks for such good advice. Using a MacBook makes even the most standard jobs easier. Sure, if you are a software engineering student like you, it is not the most recommended.

In fact, my interest is to take more control over the computer, and in this sense, the Linux OS is the most suitable.

Hello, your conclusion in your post are just like my thoughts.. hahaha..... I would settle for a desktop, mine for years did its job, I need another one urgently!!!. Like you, it doesn't necessarily have to be a package. used is a good option. My common sense tells me the same thing. My computer is for me a working tool here, in this day and age, but I also enjoy it by taking walks on facebook. Thanks for sharing. Regards.

That amount for a single laptop is obviously huge. Anyway, I also want to buy laptop, but I can't even buy my phone for my upcoming school year. In fact, the fund for my future phone was borrowed by my mother, and I don't know when I could get it.

Well, my young friend. Keep interacting on the platforms you like, learn as much as you can. For sure, you will soon be able to acquire the devices you need.

Patience and determination in walking are highly desirable virtues.

Hello my friend, I do everything from a red letter canaima, everything you see here in read.cash and noise.cash is done in this canaima, until this comment. For me it has been a great help, the day I have a machine like the one you currently use or the one you will buy, I will be a million times more productive.

I suggest you go to purse.io and there you will get very good amazon laptops that you can buy using BCH, the site is legitimate and has been operating with amazon for many years.

And I hope you can complete your purchase, please let me know how you are doing with the new equipment.

I have LUBUNTU 16.04 LTS installed in this canaima and it works great for me, the operating system brings everything I need and I even have a gameboy advance emulator installed and I play quietly, in fact from there I take out and make all my retro publications gaming, so don't worry, LUBUNTU, and any other version of UBUNTU or linux, nowadays they are very intuitive and with a graphical environment, and very easy to use.

Any questions you have let me know by leaving a comment on noise (reinaldoverdu) or here at read.cash in a comment on any of my publications and I will gladly guide you.

I do not have liquidity to give you at this time, I took out everything I had 1 hour ago, but I support you for noise, you know it.

Hello Reinaldo.

Thanks for your comments and advice.

Yes, I know that you make the most of the netbook you point to. In fact, I sometimes cite you as an example when my son complains about the performance of his 2010 ThinkPad Edge 13 laptop.

You know my friend, how many people waste the power of their computers, while others like you, get the most out of it. Keep it up, giving us the best of you in every post.

If I decide to buy another computer, I will surely write another article about it. If I have any questions about Linux, I will not hesitate to contact you via noise.cash.

Thanks for stopping by.

I think that such a budget will acquire you a much better laptop. Try changing the OS laptop on sdd to make it faster as well.

For me, I buy technological products out of necessities. Good thing, I was able to have a newer laptop with some specs affordable and above my mediocre usage. I mist say, I've been enjoying my Windows and Android experience.

That's great that you could acquire and invest a laptop for long time. Soon, BCH will fly to the moon and you could buy a new one. Just believe!

I agree with you that BCH will come to fair value. Maybe I should still trust my laptop and wait for that moment.

I feel identified. I also need to change my laptop eventually. Mine is a 2012 MacBook Pro, and it's still filling the bill for what I do, but I need to replace it. I hope that by the end of the year, I will be able to gather the BCH I need. I'm not attached to material things, but I wish I could buy even the most basic MacBook Air. My son's Acer laptop experience was terrible. It didn't last two years, and it can't be repaired. On the other hand, I still have an old MackBook from 2006 running.

Hello, my friend,

Yes, I also identify with you. My son also had a 17-inch Acer brand laptop which did not give video overnight. He also had no repair. Another coincidence we have is that even my old Mini Mac from 2007 works perfectly.

Apple products are expensive but durable.

I hope to read about the laptop you want in the future. Well, that both you and I need.

Have a great day.

Hi, my friend,

Well, now that you mention it, although I have two operating smartphones from 2013, of which I am not complaining, one Samsung and the other Sony. You probably need to update me on that as well.

For now, I will continue to enjoy them and will change it based on priority.

Thank you for your comments.

Hi, my friend,

Yes, I remember reading in some of your articles that you bought a laptop and a phone for your mother with BCH. I hope you are enjoying it.

I believe that in technology you have to make smart purchases, not get carried away by fashions, and invest based on needs.

Thanks for stopping by.

I am planning on acquiring a laptop soon, but a cheaper option. Here we have fairly new types that can still serve very well and that's what most people use here. New laptop are so costly, going up well over $600.

Hello, my dear friend,

Well, laptops have always been expensive. So before buying one, consider the value for money very well. If you are not someone who needs to work with audiovisual production or a programmer. Anyone who complies with the basic tasks of entertainment and office automation will be enough for you.

Cheap is not always expensive, so don't rule out the secondary market a priori. I don't know what the market is like in Nigeria, but brands like Lenovo, especially professional models, are excellent options.

My first laptop was a ThinkPad 600e rebuilt by IBM. Now, the Chinese giant Lenovo markets them. Something to consider, before buying the brand, Lenovo was the IBM contractor for the manufacture of that production line.

Buy smart to maximize your investment.

Do not take my recommendations as infallible, I only share my experience in this particular.

Hi Jane,

Yes, it was a lot of money, it was a lot of money back then, and now too. That's why I had to pay it on credit.

Before I could afford that luxury. Today the circumstances are different, and also currently there are offers in the secondary market of excellent second-hand laptops, such as the Lenovo ThinkPad. My wife has a 2016 one that is great and costs her $ 310 in 2019.

So I have no doubt that you can find an excellent laptop that suits your needs.

10 years in service! that laptop needs some sort of award! If it is still working, then I guess you can still continue to save and hodl more bch until you reach the amount desired. I bet you can surely acquire the amount in a few months

Yes, it is a very reliable laptop. I only replaced the battery in 2017. Which by the way, I already have to replace again. At the moment, I use it connected to the electrical network.

As you rightly say, I can still save on BCH and wait for at least September, following the advice of a trusted investor waiting for BCH to finish taking off.

Thanks for stopping by my friend.

I hold a Thinkpad t400 which cost me $25 plus an SSD 128 another $25, for a total of $50. I know I need a new computer but they are way too expensive at the moment, and just for typing my old ThinkPad has already paid for itself.

I was also thinking to upgrade the phone that cost me $90 some months ago and the phone is unlocked for any carrier, I use it to check my accounts on the go, and it has already paid for itself because I buy the cheapest phone plans and since I own the device I can move from company to company.

I could get into debt and buy a computer and phone that will cost both around $2000, money that I don't have that I could get with credit, but I rather get debt for buying BCH than consumer goods, I think that if your computer is enough today you should save your money and invest it instead into an asset that gives you profits in the future.

If you have the cash go for it and buy your computer or you could put that into BCH and wait a few years and maybe you get more than just a computer but maybe a house from your BCH investment.

Hi buddy,

I really appreciate your advice. Investing in gadgets can be bad enough, considering how quickly they become obsolete.

Obviously, you may have noticed that I still use a laptop from 2011, so I am past the time when I was obsessed with the fleeting feeling of novelty.

House cent counts, not only for the future forecast but for the now. There are other priorities and needs.

For me, a computer is an instrument to exploit the potentialities of expression. In fact, I haven't watched TV for a long time. I think I put consumerism aside for fun. When I look around me I see things that I do not need, I reflected on them and I seek a solution.

Sure, selling or giving away is the logical action.

Well, I'll see if I really need a new computer right now. What I do know at this point is that the feedback I receive in this article helps me set my priorities.

Thanks for your recommendations. I hope that soon, BCH will allow you to invest in a new computer and help you achieve your goals.

I have a 2018 iMac 21.5" and it is going to be outfitted with Linux soon. Apple and Windows are going to be spying on files with their next big update. I've nothing to hide per se, but I do a lot of political commentary that does not align with the narrative. I had a MacBook Air but it overheated.

Hello my friend,

It's unusual for a Mac to be replaced with an operating system, although to be honest, my son installed Window 7 on a 2007 Mac Mini, and it works fine, he just hasn't found the drivers for the audio yet. Hahaha

I share the concern of the big tech privacy intrusion, so when you install Linux on your iMac, share your experience about performance.

Somewhere I read that spyware has been installed in computer ROMs for a while. Maybe Linux will help disable them in some way.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hi there. I sold a 2009 iMac a couple of years ago. It was portioned, with Mac on one side and Windows 7 on the other. My audio worked well on both. The crazy thing is that the 2009 model is after booting than my 2018. Should have never sold it and used it as an external hard drive unconnected to the Internet. Oh, well!

Maybe you shouldn't have sold an old iMac and kept it as a backup. Well, there is no use lamenting, and that served its purpose for many years.
