These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. Acts 1:14 Perhaps the greatest strength of the early Christians was the unity to which they devoted themselves. They ate together, lived together, prayed together. They were in “one accord." To reach an accord to enter into the agreement with another party. The early church agreed together. They were bound together by the experiences they had gone through. It is because of this accord, that they were able to experience the Holy Spirit. Everyone was of the same mind. So many time in our churches today, we wonder why we don’t see signs and wonders. Where is the move of the Holy Spirit? Perhaps it is because we no longer know how to be in accord. We spend our week running to and fro and light long enough on Sunday morning to sing a few songs and listen to some encouraging words from the pastor. We don’t all agree on the same thing. We don’t all seek after a move of God. We are not in one accord. We must come to a place of agreement with our fellow Christians if we ever hope to see the miracles the early church experienced. Father, I pray that I may be unified with other believers. Help me to agree with them in mind and heart and to reach an accord, by which Your Holy Spirit will come. Amen. KJV Bible
