It has been predicted that robots will replace over 20 million jobs by 2030. (BBC). How can this be possible? Meet Pepper, a semi-humanoid robot developed in 2014 by a Japanese company, SoftBank Robotics.
This robot can read emotions through facial expressions and voice tone. Pepper is currently being used as a receptionist at several offices in developed countries - Medical facilities, airports, banks, restaurants, schools, homes etc.
Pepper is so advanced that it can chat autonomously with visitors, organise meetings, send emails, arrange for drinks to be made etc.
