PFAC: The Hidden Face Of The Moon

Today on the occasion of the next December 1st the World Day of the Fight against Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is celebrated, I bring you five stories of people of different ages, social positions, and cultural levels, who have been infected with STIs: Amanda, Yasell, Nancy, Leroy, and Dayron. Stories are taken from a novel called by the same name as this article: "The hidden face of the moon."

It is a very controversial issue that emphasizes the acceptance and inclusion of society of what is different, which for many is not normal. The recognition of the truth of each one and alerts society, mainly young people, without distinction of age, creed, religion, occupation, and biological sex, about the danger of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) / AIDS and Infections of Sexual Transmission (STI). Break those fears where people feared approaching those infected since they thought that HIV could be spread by casual contact such as shaking hands, hugging, kissing. They also need to live.

My intention is to represent the reality we live in, no matter what part of the planet earth you are from. To show solidarity and support for those affected by HIV, those who have passed away, and those who care for someone with the disease.

Amanda

Amanda is a normal teenager. She does not smoke, she does not drink alcohol, she does not have any vice in today's society rooted in her. She is the best student in her class, an award that has earned her attention to all kinds of bullying, for being the smartest. Her parents strive to give her all the attention and give her a better future and a 15-year party that is worthwhile. All 14-year-olds just want their 15-year-old party to be perfect. This entails a huge expense of money, which translates into studio photos, and parties.

That's when bad influences come into your life. The supposed best friend introduces her to a boy, a little older than her and life becomes more complex. A relationship of daily torment begins. What should be true love turns into hell. It turns out that the young man only wants to advance the relationship until it reaches the inevitable. He does not have the strength or the conviction, much less the love to wait for the right moment. He wants to burn stages.

Amanda normally wouldn't have allowed any of this. But bad influences have caused him to smoke occasionally and arrive home late. That their grades in school are no longer the best and that alcohol is what they use to quench their thirst. Everything to resemble what his world is, and avoid being a mockery. Young people can be challenging and rebellious, so parent-child communication and observance of the life of our adolescent son or daughter without becoming overprotective is vital.

Eventually, the boy gets what he wants. Completely unloving and very abrupt. That special moment in the life of both a girl and a boy must be perfect. Never do what your body is unwilling to do and let your heart approve. Rushing things doesn't make sense at all. Everything happens when it has to. Love works wonders when it's true.

Although she required the presence of protection, the young man denied it completely and did not use it. A big mistake. The risks associated with such unprotected practice are extremely complex. From an unwanted pregnancy at a very young age and contracting a disease.

Days after the fact was consummated, they call the young man to notify him to attend his health center. It turns out that he was involved in a chain of infections and diseases. After taking the corresponding blood tests and testing positive for the AIDS virus, that's when Amanda's life changed its course.

Today, thanks to advances in science and the availability of antiretroviral treatment, Amanda can lead a normal life, corresponding to a chronic disease, without the opportunistic infections characteristic of untreated AIDS.

Yasel

Yasel is a worker, he spends hours tied to a harness at the top of a building under construction of dozens of floors, he likes to be there because he feels free as a bird. Evening comes and he goes back to his daily routine, he comes home, he plays with his little daughter, he is a very loving father. His wife receives him with a kiss, they have a 20-year marriage, and passion makes their bodies vibrate like the first day.

Yasel's life turned upside down the day she met Mario. Mario is an investor, he was just passing through a danger zone, and without protection, it was there when Yasel from the top while knocking the concrete panels accidentally dropped a piece of cement and like a rock falling from the sky it brushes Yasel's shoulder, luckily It was not fatal and a convalescent Mario managed to reach the hospital without seriousness. Yasel with a great charge on his conscience approaches him at the hospital to help him as the cause of the injury.

Mario is homosexual, he lives alone, independent, and without fear. Although loneliness overwhelms him, and the contempt of his family isolates him in a lonely world, although he maintains his informal relationships. Yasel begins to frequent him as support in the household errands since he would be for a time with an immobilized arm and felt some pain and guilt, while his wife urged him to help Mario since he could not do less.

During one of his visits, Mario confesses to Yasel about his sexual preferences. He is upset and feels that his manhood could be affected by helping someone homosexual. He leaves and decides not to visit Mario again.

From here on his life changed, he did nothing but watch that full moon, with its craters, every night from his balcony, and there he was right behind on the far side of the moon. He had mixed feelings, since he was young Yasel was attracted to men, but he repressed his desires, driven by the stereotypes instilled by his father of a rude and womanizing man.

But one-day Yasel returned, and there was Mario who received him uncensored, and the inevitable happened. Everything happened in the decline of Yasel's marriage, his wife discovered the doubly painful infidelity. On the one hand, the betrayal and on the other discovering that everything he had lived through for so many years was a fantasy.

Months later Mario discovers that he was living with the AIDS virus. Yasel at that time lived with his parents and when he received the news, everything collapsed for him. Today he lives with this disease, but he is careful with his treatments and learned to make sense of the simple details that make him happy.

Looking for information on the subject and the beginnings of the disease I found a curious fact. Originally, most of the patients were sexually active homosexual men. Due to the appearance of pinkish spots on their bodies, the press began to call AIDS the "pink plague", attributing it to homosexuals, although it was soon noted that heterosexual men and women, people who used drugs, also suffered from it. injectables and events associated with blood transfusions.
