Why Putin needs to win his war in Ukraine

In today's blog article I want to discuss with everyone a very important subject today. Now I'm sure by now everyone knows about the war happening in Ukraine and if you've been reading my blog you would know how the war against Russia is going. As of now, the Russians have stalled in their offense and so far haven't made any advancements. Now there are multiple reasons why this is happening to the Russian army. Two of the biggest factors have been supply chain issues and a lot of resistance from Ukrainians. Everyone from civilians to the military has put the Russian offensive plans to pause as Putin and his general figure out a new strategy. With a ceasefire or peace talks looking more promising by the day I want to discuss why Putin needs this victory otherwise it can lead to the end of his reign and possibly modern Russia. So without further let's get into today's subject.

Putin's reign coming to an end

Putin personally has a lot at stake in the Ukrainian conflict. One of the main concerning factors at stake is his presidency. Before the war, Putin was seeing lowered approval ratings, especially amongst the youth of the country. After the war, the Russian government said his approval rating have gone up and it might be true but it's only temporary. Especially as the war drags on and more young Russian soldiers are killed. Mass protests have been breaking out across Russian during this war with many of them being put on quickly and forcefully. As this continues we can most likely see riots start to break out. If this starts to happen then it's likely president Putin has gone too far and there's no going back to save himself. At this point, either a coup, a revolution, or Putin himself resigns ending the modern Russia we know.         

Russia's demographics

Russian demographics have been the main reason why Russia has acted so aggressively recently. Recent surveys coming out of Russia have shown the Russian population has shrunk by -0.9 annually. This is mostly due to the after-effects of the communist government in the past. This has led to an older population and a less active workforce in the economy. Putin knows he has a limited amount of time before it's too late for him to recover. This is why he is attacking Ukraine. There are also reports coming out of Ukraine saying that Russian soldiers are kidnapping children and people and taking them to Russia which confirms my theory.
