Are you like me who sometimes feel sleepy after eating? Have you ever wonder why?

Sleepiness after eating is normal based on experts. It is the response of our body towards the digestion process.

There are several factors why we feel sleepy after eating our meal.

Factors:

  • The Food we Eat.

    The food we eat is one of the factors why we feel sleepy. Foods rich in protein and carbohydrates are the responsible why we feel drowsy after eating our meal.

  • Sleeping Habit

    Is you are one of the people who have a messy sleeping habit, then for sure, you also experienced drowsiness after meal. After meal, our body is full and relaxed. Our body may feel more like resting especially when you didn't get enough proper sleep.

  • Health Condition

    Sleepiness or drownsiness after a meal is normal, but it is sometimes cause or sign of a health problem like anemia, diabetes and sleep apnea.

Sleepiness after a meal is completely normal. It is a sign that our body response to the biochemical changes that is cause by digestion of the food we eat.

However, there are cases that the symptoms of post-meal drowsiness or sleepiness are disruptive, it is better to talk and consult a doctor.

The food we eat is our main source of energy of our day to day activity. Even when sitting and breathing, we consume energy.

If you are having a trouble in sleeping, eating foods that are rich in proteins and carbohydrates will help. Milk and cereal are good examples.
