Summer is No Longer The Summer We Used To Know
May 10
.
We are living in a changing world. For the second year now, summer is no long the summer we used to know and enjoy. Thanks to the covid-19 pandemic, the world was forced to change in their lifestyle.
In the Philippines, summer starts sometime in the last week of March or sometime in April. And when you say summer, it would mean vacation to somewhere cool or to the beach resorts.
However, because of the pandemic that started two years, summer is no longer the same. Especially for those who are involved in the academe.
The school calendar was forced to changed because of the pandemic. March was supposed to be the beginning of the summer break.
Greetings once again my wonderful readers and friends. Yes, it's supposed to be the middle of summer... or maybe just a little over the middle of summer. However, times have changed a lot and not just the school calender as I have mentioned above.
The climate has been changing like crazy too.
Summer Storm and summer rain.
April was supposed to be the peak of summer. However, last April, we had a storm that brought flood to various areas in the country. I can never recall if we had a storm in the middle of summer before.
Not only that, it's been raining almost every day. In fact it's raining as I am typing this. Summer days are different recently. You would feel the summer heat in the morning then it would pour down like crazy in the afternoon or at night.
No More Summer Vacation
Since the school calendar has changed, we no longer have a break during summer. Or rather our break now starts at the end of summer.
Looking Back
When we were kids, we used to go to our father's hometown and stay there during summer. There was no Internet back then, no mobile phones or any other devices. There was not even cable TV's back then. We would play with our cousins in their home at the town plaza. Yeah we had lots of fun and truly bond as a family.
Summer Destination for my Family
I've been grinding for years for my family. However, I never had saved enough to bring my family for a vacation.
Thanks to the financial blessings that I have lately, I have started to save some fiat and bitcoincash now that I think I can bring my family to a vacation. It will not be a summer vacation anymore though. Just a school break vacation. It will not be grand and far... maybe just somewhere a little close to home.
Here are some of the places that I have in my mind.
Guimaras.
May is the best month to go to Guimaras. The island province is known all over the world to produce the sweetest mangoes on Earth. Not only that, the island has been developing its tourism industry. Being surrounded by bodies of water, I saw a lot of pictures of various resorts in the island.
Boracay.
Who doesn't want to go to this island paradise? I haven't been to Boracay after it was rehabilitated. I haven't been to this place for ten long years. I believe it's much better now.
However, since you need to ride a small boat to get there, I'm not sure if it's good to go there in June when the rainy season starts.
Baguio City.
Dubbed as the Summer Capital of the Philippines. The cool temperature there is a perfect place to get away from the summer heat.
Although it will no longer be summer when the school break starts. But I love to go back to that place.
In Closing.
Time has changed a lot. The climate has changed as well. We never had a storm during summer. Not as long as I can remember. The pandemic has forced some changes across the globe as well.
Thus summer is no longer the summer that we used to know. I wonder if the kids these days can still enjoy a real "summer" vacation.

I love to visit Guimaras, and taste their mangoes! Anyway, indeed climate change is real, even the sea water level is alarming too.
