@Isobel more from that month

My work experience 2 After the covid-19 pandemic, I started attending a cake class. Since I was 8, I've had interest in baking. My mum was a baker, so I learned a bit from her. I think the last time she baked was in 2007, she had to stop cause there was no time. I started getting ingredients with my own money when I was 14, I think. The first time I baked a cake, it was a disaster. It was very hard, you'll think is Fufu😂. I bought icing sugar and iced the cake. It was actually for my sister's birthday. I had zero knowledge of what I was doing, so, instead of a cake board, I found a clean carton and carved it to my cake's shape. I place my cake on it,I was naive. After two days, cake spoiled. I could not even taste it at all. My money was wasted, but, I learned something. Next time, I added preservatives to my cake. I didn't have an oven. I used sand to bake my cake. This cake was meant for my brother and I. It was our birthday, that week. After reading some stuffs about cake, I proceeded to business. Mind you, I didn't have any measuring instruments. I just measured with my instincts. I was just doing things on my own, trying to find my way around. The cake came out fair, not okay. Then, I planned to cover my cake. Hmmm, this is where my struggle Bagan. I've never heard of the modernized Piping bag or nozzles. I used the old tool meant for piping,owned by my mum. It was difficult to use. I managed to use it, but, my hand paid the price. I tried to create a basket design...and, I tried. But it was nothing close to good. The cake lasted for a few days, but, it was hard. I even added water to my cake😂. Again, I tried baking one time. My cousin made fun of me when he saw the cake. He said, "Is this cake or Semovita". I was hurt, but didn't take it to heart. At least, my cake was no more hard..

Finally, I enrolled as an apprentice and started learning. I learned the basics of cake making, what to do and what not to do. How to get the right measurements.

I committed my whole being to learning. Not only cake, but snacks. And some other yummy recipe. Three months after learning, I baked my father's birthday cake. Even though, I had no measuring tools. But, I've been taught how to work without Measuring, in some cases, though. And, I've gotten an oven, then. I baked my cake, it came out beautifully. I was so proud of myself. Then, I iced my cake, without a turn table. I showed my boss, she was wowed. She was and is still proud of me. My cake was so fluffy and yummy. It was perfect.

Then last year, I baked my mum's birthday cake in March, now with a turntable. It was cute. And neat.

Now, when it comes to cake, I can do anything. Even though, I'm still planning to upgrade my skills. I had faith in myself, I believed I can do it and I succeeded. Try, and Learn a skill today, it'll go a long way. Image source: All taken myself. The cakes belongs to me.
