Control that tongue

The tongue is one of the biggest weapons in the world. It can be used for destructive purposes as well as for good. Without tongue, man cannot communicate with his fellow man. As much as it is an essential tool for man's communication with others, it can also lead to a man's downfall.

It is always said that what comes out of a man's mouth defines him. When you are known as a person who uses his tongue to speak positively, you will always be identified as a positive person. When you use your tongue in a vulgar way, people will always identify you as vulgar. So it is important the way we use our tongue. That is why it is always adviseable for one to always think before making statements.

There are people who have really underestimated the destructive ability of the tongue. Most of them are not even alive to witness the repercussion of what they have said with their mouth. This will lead me to a tragic story told to me by my dear friend about a man who saw armed rascals destroying government owned properties. The man threw a comment about these rascals. One of the rascals overheard his unpleasant statement about them. This led to the man being dragged to a secluded area where he was shot dead. This man did not live to see justice served on these miscreants. If only he had held his opinion to himself and not voiced it out at that moment, such disheartening misfortune wouldn't have befallen him. It is not and has never been an offence to criticize evil when we see or witness it, but learn to know when and where to voice your criticisms. Sometimes before you make certain statements, think of the place you are making such statement as well as the effect of such statement at that point in time.

Do not always let your tongue run loose. It is an undisputed fact that you own your person and can utter any word you want, but do it at the appropriate time and place. You don't always end up hurting yourself when you let your tongue loose, you might bring unnecessary harm to your neighbor. Imagine living your life knowing that your tongue has caused another person sorry. Pathetic, right?

Many people have lost lifetime opportunities because they couldn't control their tongues. Most people live in regret of what they must have said while most did not even have the opportunity to grieve over the harm they caused with their uncontrolled tongues. Instead of letting your tongue loose and causing yourself and others harm, isn't it better to think things through and save everyone the harm occasioning from what you may have said. Your tongue is only but a part of your body so take control of it instead of the other way round
