Crypto lesson 1 : ๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ถ๐ ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ 28 June 2022 โขWhat is CME? The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) is the world's largest derivatives exchange. CME offers futures and options on every asset imaginable. These assets range from agricultural products to various commodities, stocks, energy, and even currencies. โขBitcoin CME Gap Explained You can trade cryptocurrencies in any unlimited zone around the clock. However, traditional assets are not traded 24/7. Most traditional exchanges have a set opening and closing time (usually opens on Sunday and closes on Friday), and the CME also follows this usual rule. When a Bitcoin futures contract closes on Friday and opens on Sunday, there is always a price difference. The price difference is the CME bitcoin gap. To illustrate this, let's take Binance as an example. You can trade on Binance however you want; it has no fixed time to open or close. CME, on the other hand, has a fixed opening or closing time. When the CME closes, the price of bitcoin continues to rise or fall. Due to the market close, the price movement is not fixed on the price chart, so when the CME opens on Sunday, the price continues to move at the same price as in the spot market, creating a gap on the price chart that needs to be filled. The main relationship between CME and BTC is that CME offers BTC futures or derivative contracts that track the price of Bitcoin.
