Cleome Gynandra or Wild Spider Flower - This kind of flower is considered as a weed that grows in vacant land , agricultural area, roadside and abandoned land. Some part of my property that being vacated is well covered with the wild spider flower. I don't do anything with those wild spider flower and just leave it as it is. Wild Spider Flower is also being named as Spider Weed, Spider flower, African Cabbage and etc. The flower and young shoot of leaves are good for cooking such as fermented the young leaves and flowers to eat with chili dip or cook fermented leaves of wild spider flower as a curry with any kind of meat. Wild Spider Flower is rich in minerals, vitamins and amino acids. And need to be noted that fresh plant of Wild Spider Flower contains hydrocyanic acid that is toxic to central nervous system and need to reduce the toxic by heating, boiling or fermented before eating. I myself love to take a closer look of the Wild Spider Flower as it really beautiful on its complex shape and form with little white flower.
