Actually, I don't want to travel, but it's necessary today because I need to make merit for my grandfather and grandmother in their hometown, which is about 30 minutes away from my parents' house. My most recent visit was 20 years ago. On the way back home, I asked my dad to take me to his family silk farm, where silkworms are raised to produce silk. I'm not interested in silkworms, but I do need to see a mulberry field. There are many mulberry fruits now, but the mulberry trees have almost no leaves. Mulberry leaves are a favorite food of silkworms when they are producing silk. So the leaves are cut every day to feed the silkworm, but no one takes notice the mulberry fruits because there are so many of them. This Sunday afternoon, I am having a great time picking mulberry fruits to eat fresh and to collect for making mulberry fruits jam. Mulberry fruit has a good flavor that balances the sweet and tart flavors like a blackberry. Depending on the variety, they can ripen to a deep purple, black, red, or white color.
