@HelyanweOnNoiseApp more from that month

One of my colleague has been going around supermarkets and checking out their reduce to clear sections for good bargains. He normally gets canned items or dry ingredients. The items are all like a month or 2 away from the expiration date so they often go for 50% off or higher. Recently he got some okonomiyaki pancake flour and he got some to make for our staff meal. It's a premix that all you need to add is eggs and some water. He added in freshly sliced cabbage and sliced salami to the batter and then fried it on the flat top with some oil. After a couple of minutes and it's golden brown, he flips it to cook on the other side until golden brown as well. After its cooked, we topped it with teriyaki sauce and Japanese kewpie mayo. I had mine it a fried egg as well and some freshly chopped spring onions. The crust was slightly crispy and the center of the okonomiyaki was soft and fluffy. The cabbage gave it a nice natural sweetness and the salami a slightly smokey flavor. The teriyaki sauce added a nice sweet flavor to the pancake and the Japanese mayo making it rich and creamy paired with the egg yolk. It was such a delicious meal and a nice change from our usual rice based meals. #food #foodie
