Genesis 3:7-13 [7]At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. [8]When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the lord God among the trees. [9]Then the lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” [10]He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.” [11]“Who told you that you were naked?” the lord God asked. “Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?” [12]The man replied, “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.” [13]Then the lord God asked the woman, “What have you done?”“The serpent deceived me,” she replied. “That’s why I ate it.”
Now Adam and Eve began to have their own knowledge of good and evil apart from God from the forbidden fruit. They began to think of their nakedness as a shame for they began to have evil knowledge. They ceased to be pure and innocent in their minds.
They also began to fear for they also knew that they had sinned against God. On their own they thought of saving themselves from shame by sewing fig leaves to cover their naked bodies. They also his away from God for fear of judgement. They knew that God spoke the truth and they are going to die as God said. Their shame and fear indicated to them that God was telling the truth and the serpent had deceived them.
Can their covering and hiding prevent God from seeing and judging their sin? No, no sinner can escape and hide from the All-Knowing God!
