Myth bursting: Flipstarter is a political tool

There is a saying in law “…if proven beyond reasonable doubt” but it seems this doesn’t extend to cryptocurrency- Bitcoincash in particular. Various flipstarters has been raised down the years with the result of these being shown for all to see, yet so many fallacies are still spreading around.

Much has been said about Bitcoin and some other coins someday bowing to the demands of the government, losing the primary purpose of cryptocurrency,- which is "giving back the control of money to the people”. So desperate are people to attach cryptocurrency to politics that flipstarters are being tagged political tools.

Donations are in no way a political tool. People give because they believe in the project and are assured the money will be used for that which it was promised to be used for. Sincerity and accountability have been recorded thus far in the various donation campaigns. Pieces of evidence that the money is used for the work which it has been set out for demonstration are given.

When we talk about it being a political tool, it simply means what the government is using it to propagate a hidden agenda. This can be done in disguise, under the name of a project. We can also say it’s the situation whereby a group of people with a close affinity have the privilege to a thing that an independent entity doesn’t have.

Flipstarters are projects requiring donations and this can only be done when trust is there. The instigation requiring donations state the purpose and when this is proven beyond a reasonable doubt to be true, people give out their donations. Over the years we've had various Flipstarter campaigns : BCHD, Bitcoin ABC, Bitcoin cash Node, Bitcoin verde , EatBCH...

Using the just concluded EatBCH as a case study, the association has been able to feed thousands of children with the BCH raised from flipstarters. The allocation of the fund is written right there on the page. Venezuela and South Sudan are recipients of these allocations. The transparency of this project is evident for all to see.

Pictures and documentaries of different charity programmes being carried out are there for all to this. This is by far the biggest cryptocurrency charity programme around. This does not in any way depict anything political. Instead, it’s been covering the blushes of the failings of the various governments in these countries.

The best thing about this is, it cut across various continents and colours. There is no preferential treatment when distributing the fund. Instead, it is distributed based on the need of each region.

Another flipstarter campaign worthy of being mentioned is the Flipstarter for providing water in some countries. The result of this flipstarter is beyond any political affinity.

Perhaps, the existence of associations like Bitcoincash Venezuela, Bitcoincash Nigeria and others created the misconception among the public. Though these associations are created to promote bitcoincash in various regions in these countries. Proof of work is on their websites and pages. The BCH raised from flipstarters are used in promoting bitcoincash at various institutions, for outreach and seminars. Taking Bitcoincash Nigeria as an example, recently, the organization helped in organizing an outreach where various bitcoincash enthusiasts met in the prestigious University of Lagos.

The misconception about what Flipstarters stands for might continue for years just like every other myth aimed at truncating the growth of cryptocurrency and Bitcoincash in particular, but the fact that Bitcoincash flipstarters carried out so far are not in any way a political tool remains the truth.
