At The Shore
I stood so confused at the shore, While I saw the vast sea I had to surpass. I was calculating; submerged in steady awe, Die scared of drowning to the ocean floor. For though I had earlier counted, instantly I recounted the cost. I wanted to sail, show the world I could, I had reverse out of father's love and mother's care. I stood still, detecting a canoe that sails to my dreams, Such that will make the world latter see the painting of my achievement, And my parents will sing a ballad of my strength and ingenuity. I saw fishers display their best catch, And I could read the inexplicable joy on their faces. It boosted both my faith and curiosity, It made me further crave for success like an addict, Pushing me to descend on a canoe, Commanding the owner to sail.
With eyes closed and feet folded I left the shore, The drumming of my heart was heard by the waves, I was in careless fear of my fate, But in outmost certainty, I had left childhood, And whether I hug success, failure or death, I have become a man.
