Parenting or child rearing is the process of supporting and fostering a child's physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development from infancy to adulthood.

In a book, I read a short story about a small family with two kids. The parents were anxious because their children act naughtily. They are afraid that their kids will grow with the same behavior. They tried to find answers to their problem but they can't find any from the books they read so, in the end, they just hope that their kids will eventually get along with each other.

Some parents, especially those first-time parents, are worried and afraid that their kids might grow with bad behaviors and attitudes. That's why some of them seek information or tips from people who have parenting experiences. It may be a tough job raising kids yet for parents, it is the most fulfilling job in the world. That's why today, I am going to share with you few tips that can help you feel and become more fulfilled as a parent.

  • Always Be Consistent With Your Discipline and Set Limits

Discipline is necessary inside the house. One of the goals of this is to help children learn self-discipline and choose acceptable behaviors. They may test the limits you set for them, but they need that to become responsible adults someday.

Additionally, setting up rules at home helps children understand your expectations and this can help to develop their self-discipline. For example, no gadgets or play until homework is not done or no picking on when going to bed.

  • Be a person they look up to ( a good role model)

Children learn a lot about how to act by observing their parents ' actions or even other people around them. Always remember, that the younger the children are, the more cues they take from you. Furthermore, whenever you do something in front of them, always think of this question, "Is that how I want my child to behave when they grow up? ".

Always be careful of your action in front of them for they are very good imitators. Show the traits you wish to see in your children like friendliness, honesty, respect, kindness, and tolerance. Moreover, show unselfish behavior like doing things for other people without expecting any rewards and express thanks and offer compliments. Lastly, treat your children the way you expect other people to treat you.

  • Show That Your Love Is Unconditional

As a guardian or parent, you're accountable for correcting and guiding your children to be good and responsible people. But the question is HOW? ---Always strive to nurture and encourage them, even when disciplining. Make sure that they know that your love is there no matter what, although you expect better next time. Remember, confronting your child, criticizing and fault-finding can lead to resentment and decreases self-esteem.

  • Catch Kids Being Good

One of the effective approaches is to catch your children doing something right or good. For instance, making their bed without being asked or putting away their toys after they used them. Giving compliments after they did those things can encourage good behavior over the long run than repeated scoldings.

Always observe and look for something to praise them every day. Be generous and give them rewards like hugs, kisses, and compliments. But also make sure to pay attention to their bad attitudes or behaviors and correct them immediately by encouraging and guiding them to do good.

Bottomline, parenting or child-rearing is not easy as 1-2-3 yet it is one of the fulfilling jobs that parents have. There may be lots of problems you may face while raising your kids but make sure not to give up on them and continue encouraging and nurturing them to become good people and citizens.

Whenever you doubted yourself in raising your kids, consult or seek help from people who have lots of experience in parenting. Lastly, make sure to follow the mentioned above for these tips guarantee you that your child will become a good person.
