After more than three months since its was launched, photos of the printed P5,000 Lapulapu commemorative banknote finally surfaced online! According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the commemorative banknote hopes to promote and popularize the heroism of Lapulapu and his warriors, and "to encourage the present generation of Filipinos to rediscover and appreciate our pre-colonial history."
