How well do you respond to criticism or correction, both positive and negative ones? Do you approach it logically or take a defensive and emotional stance towards it? I have a very close friend that never wants to be corrected or admits he is wrong now matter what. Initially, I thought it had to do with him having a bad habit, but now I am almost convinced it is a psychological problem. The way he shifts blame on people when things go wrong is actually surprising to me. According to him, someone is always responsible for a mistake or the cause of a problem (which is true), but that person can never be him. Whenever he makes a mistake, he doesn’t admit it and when you try to criticize the fact that he isn’t owning up to his mistake, it turns out to be a 2 way argument where each party walks out. The matter becomes open ended and without a conclusion. I have grown tired of trying to correct him. Is there a way I can make him see that sometimes, he is the cause of his own misfortune?

I'm so sorry to hear that :( Adults are difficult to be corrected Hope he'll realise it someday It can be draining. Do you think it's worth correcting after so many attempts?
Some times i just leave such people. Persuading them is a waste of time. It's a lost cause
I was once like that your friend. People like that are hard to reach. It will take a really hurtful event to cause him to objectively reflect on it
